Internet-Controlled Power Backup

I noticed that APC now has a power backup that can be controlled remotely through an Internet connection.

The APC Back-UPS Pro 500 can allow users to remotely turn on and off individual outlets.

This could help users reboot Vera from a distant location.

For example, I have a Vera setup at a house in a remote location. I have a modem, router and Vera on a GE timer strip that resets everything once a day. Sometimes, something goes haywire with Vera and I have to wait until Vera recycles the next day. With the new Back-UPS Pro 500, I could put Vera on a controlled outlet and, as long as I have an Internet connection, turn it on and off remotely.

I look forward to experimenting with this soon.

Sounds like a Digital Loggers Ethernet power controller with a built in UPS
