thanks for the info. i will try this and i let you know.
its doesn’t work for me. the light stay turned on and off all the time
When installing a CA600 today, the light was working okay then started flashing for no apparent reason. I tightened up the wire nuts which seemed to resolve the problem. Try checking/tightening your wire connections.
Edit: I don’t think that’s it. It happened to me again. The light was working normally. When I turned on another CA600 on the same circuit (shared line & neutral), the light started dimming up and down. When I turned off the other CA600 it stopped. I also got it to stop by toggling the jumpered 3-way at the other end of the circuit. The switch seems to be getting confused by the other switch on the same circuit with the 3-way switch in one of it’s two positions.
Following up, I was again able to reproduce the problem today.
Scenario:
CA600 Switch-1 wired to standard 3-way switch
CA600 Switch22 wired directly to light (no additional switches)
Both switches on the same circuit - shared line and neutral.
When the standard 3-way switch is in one of its two positions AND its CA600 is ON THEN the CA600 for the other switch is turned on, the light for switch-1 will begin dimming up and down. Usually it will stop, not always. When switch 2 is turned off, the light for switch-1 will brighten and dim briefly. This only happens when the 3-way switch is in the position where current is flowing through the red traveler (from yellow lead).
Thinking that this could be a defective switch, I swapped the two CA600’s, but the problem still occurred in the circuit with the 3-way switch. The other light does not have this behavior. I also tried the HA14 wiring diagram and the behavior still occurred, but not as bad. Does not appear to be a defective switch since the problem still happened after swapping switches. Wish I had a solution.
Yours is a wiring problem, not a problem with the switch.
This stuff bends most people’s minds so best I can do is give you a few pointers after having gone through this myself last week;
The Intermatic needs to be the first switch on the line side, not the 3-way (this was my challenge BTW)
A jumper is needed on the 3-way. Cant remember between which terminals. Make sure it is set up correctly as it will cause the on/off continuous behaviour.
Hope this helps. Trial and Error!!
im tried any jumpers , any position, any form and in any way the switch still doing the same thing. i have installed x10 with the slave in the same area and is working perfect, why is not working with the ca3000?
Have you tried swapping the ca3000 and the switch. Test the leads with a multimeter to find the line hot. The ca3000 needs to be in that position and the regular switch in the other outlet
