Intellitouch/Easytouch Pool Control Plugin

@Radjin,

I was suggesting that you actually take the pumps off the bus and see what happens. The I don’t believe the heater is directly on the comm bus and believe it or not I think there is a controller between the valves and the comm. The reason why I suggested removing the pumps from the bus and seeing if the mobi can communicate with other equipment is that I believe they have some sort of internal termination in the wire itself. As a result the pumps use a different power source than the one that is on the personality board communication bus. If there is a problem with this termination it will flood the bus and destroy the connectivity for the entire 485 network. Do you have connectivity with the relays through the mobi?

In the plugin there is a Simulation Mode which will allow you to check out the features of the plugin and get an Idea of how it works. It is not in the app store but you can download it from the first post in this thread and install it using the installation guide. It’s pretty easy to install.

Also located on this post is a link to the documentation to install and operate it.

I will attempt this weekend to see what I can in the system. On the heater, there is more than on and off as you can set the temperature and it will display on the heater itself. Well it would before it all stopped working.

Just ordered my Autelis fo my suntouch, we’ll see how it works on it. Thanks for the app.

Are you using 7.05 yet? I have a release that adds some cool effects.

I believe my antana receiver was bad so am ordering a replacement I will also order the atuelis system. Rstrouse: you said you hardwired your system. Does that simply mean a pan cable?

I used 24awg 4 conductor thermostat wire from the pad to the garage where I mounted the Autelis to the wall next to my irrigation system. The really great thing is about this device is that it does not require any external power. It gets its power off the 4wire to your comm ports on the Intellitouch. I then ran some cat6 from my switch in my structured wiring closet to the far side of the garage. In retrospect I could have run the 4 conductor wire all the way to the closet but I pulled 2 sets of cat 6 so that I could hook up OpenSprinkler in place of that Hunter system that was the bane of my existence.

There are other options. You can put the Autelis in a waterproof enclosure at the pad and use a Wireless bridge (~$20) to connect to your wireless network. Personally, I run copper when I can but that is just me being a copper snob. Although I do have 3 access points and 1 router employed on my network. The area serviced is pretty large but it is used primarily for guests and tablets.

I am building a pump house to enclose everything and that will have electrical and communications to my network closet so likely will do something similar.

Anyone got the scope on the cheapest place to pick up the Aurelia unit?

So you can set vs motors to any speed like using the wireless remote from pentair? What about seeing power used etc.?

@Radjin,

I assume your spell checker got in the way of your post. Anyhow the Autelis unit can be purchased direct from www.autelis.com. I included a shot of the pool pump output from the plugin. This is the VS pump but the plugin also supports VF pumps which will give you the current flow and filter backpressure as well.

You can also create a master panel that includes the information at a glance using the Virtual Panel plugin as well.

Very nice. Right now they are shown as out of stock; that is why I was asking if there were alternate or cheaper sources.

Ahhh, I think they produce in lots as I saw some discussions regarding their Hayward devices. If you post on their forum or shoot them a service request they are really responsive and should be able to let you know when their next shipment is arriving.

I must of ordered one of their last ones. I ordered it Monday and got it today. They were awesome and flashed my (suntouch) board also. Yeah, if you email them, they are really responsive.

I will say that the unit is much bigger than I thought by looking at the picture. It’s probably about 5 inches square. Not a big deal, but looking at the pic, I assumed in my head it would only be like 2 inches square.

Now to get it all mounted and I’m using a power line adapter since the pad is outside about 100ft away from the house.

Dpc131,

What Vera firmware are you using?

Unfortunately, I’m running ui7. I’ve had tons of stability issues since the switch which tech support can’t seem to resolve for me.

Interesting. I am running the latest FW and I have no stability issues at all. If you don’t mind me asking what plugins are you running?

The reason why I asked was because I have a new version of the plugin that fixes the positioning issues created by 7.05. What is your hookup timeframe? I have been running the new version for a while and it is solid so I will likely get around to packaging it up this weekend. I want to make sure I got the right codes for the Suntouch panel so I will keep an eye out if you have any issues.

I’m out of town for the weekend, but probably will get it connected up next weekend if the weather is good.

Version 2.0 of the plugin has been released for users running Vera fw Versions 7.05+. If you are running fw prior to 7.05 you should download Pool Control v1.0.zip attached to the same message below.

A complete rundown of the added features, bug fixes, and the distribution files can be found on the first post of this thread.

To install this update follow the instructions below. Do not uninstall the plugin

I’ve been following this thread and seems like your plugin offers a lot of control and flexibility. I can use some guidance on set up of a new pool system if anyone has suggestions, appreciate them greatly.
I have a vera 3 running UI5. has about 100 or so devices, including all the home lights and sonos.
I bought a house recently and my pool equipment is fairly old, and i am basically starting from scratch with all the equipment.
The only pieces of equipment that will remain are 2 Pentair 601012 IntelliBrite lights which were already recently installed.
(not sure if it matters, but I have option of using natural gas or propane, and will likely have the pool be salt water).

Is there a recommended equipment list someone could provide to optimize compatibility with the plugin?

This is my first pool ive owned. so i am still learning as to all equipment i will need, but would like to consider these decisions with the vera in mind, as the automation stuff is important to me.
Thanks for any advice you can provide

I guess a couple of questions are in order up front. First, is there an attached spa to your pool and where are you located? When choosing equipment this does matter. Next, I assume by the level of your current gadgetry that you are already planning for automation. This will do things like move your valves to the appropriate position, run cool down cycles for your heater, ensure proper flow rates for equipment, and provide power for your salt cell. This is just a few of its jobs.

Is there any automation currently on the pool? If there is a timer that doesn’t count as it will likely cost you more than it’s worth. My pool is pretty much maintenance free and I don’t use a pool service. I have a dozen palm trees on the property that require more maintenance than my pool.

If you are running UI 5 you can try to download the plugin and run the simulator. I only have UI7 and have not tested it on UI5. One of the things that the plugin will do very well for you is create macro circuits as scenes. This functionality is only available on more expensive controllers.

On the equipment side, the plugin was developed based upon Pentair equipment. I have most of what Pentair offers with the exception of Intellichem. If you get Intellichem just let me know and I will add support for it as I have already decoded the data. Since you have Intellibrite 5gs already, I would suggest sticking with Pentair gear as the protocol to control these lights well is embedded in the Intellitouch or Easytouch. Your choice between these two is dependent upon how many pumps, valves, and features you have and whether you are dealing with single body or dual body. The plugin will take the other cool feature of the more expensive Intellitouch and allow you to create macros using scenes.

Finally got my Suntouch Autelis installed today. Updated your app to 2.0 and seems to be working well. There’s some limitations on the Autelis because I have a Suntouch (no Pumps Menu) so it doesn’t show up in your app. Not a big deal, but just letting you know if anyone ever asks.

Thanks for all of your work that was put into here. It seems to be working great.

Awesome. I’m glad that I had the right guess for Suntouch. On the pumps side. Do you have a VS or VF pump? If it is a single speed pump then it is not included on the pumps side. You will find this in the Circuits menu to allow you to switch it on and off depending on how it is connected to the controller.

If you have a 2-speed pump then could you post up the results of.
http:///pumps.xml
I’m not sure what a two speed pump actually reports. Perhaps, there is something useful in there.

On all your other equipment, lights, solar, heater, swg, … etc. I assume it found all of that ok. Is anything missing?
