First off there is a solution to the problem I am about to detail so please read all the way through!
Problem:
The I/O Linc if wired to the garage door opener would short the electrical circuit to the wall opener unit. Which in the newer garage door openers has to have a flow of electricity to keep some of the newer features working and not having to reset the clock in the wall unit every time the door opens.
Solution:
What I did was purchase a new garage door opener the kind you would use in your car. I soldered two short pieces of wire to back of the board for the main button? There are normally 4 solder points on the board you should use 1 from the first column of two and the one on the opposite angle from the one you choose. No if you did this right if you touched the two wires together your garage door would open or close?.. Now I attached these wires to the I/O Linc and everything works fine. You just have to change the batteries on the remote when they run out… But your garage door can be opened and closed by your System and you still get all the advanced features of your garage door?
