Insteon and instant status

Just wondering if the insteon stuff has a property similar to instant status in the zwave world.
I know that you have to use alsteon to get much support on vera for insteon stuff… I’m willing to use another controller if necessary.
I may use a hybrid network of insteon for lighting and zwave for other things like locks and hvac control.
Just trying to avoid paying for the more expensive switches just to get instant status.

As long as the insteon devices are linked properly to the plm, you should receive instant updates of the devices.
