This may be a stupid question but … I just purchased a FanLinc and I’ve been able to link it to my Vera3 via Altsteon. The device shows up as three seperate devices; two of which are the light and the fan. I’ve then pinned the light and fan controls to my Vera Dashboard; only issue I have now is that the devices are listed as other.
The reason why this is an issue is because I use my android and ipod as my controllers and due to the fact that these are considered “other devices” they do not show up.
Is the only solution to create scenes? Scenes work, but they don’t allow you to see the current status of devices.
These are custom device types created by the developer of altsteon. The developer of the Vera app would need to add support for it. I currently have support for it in my android app, but only in the development release. Not sure on eta for the update.
garrettwp is correct. There aren’t a large number of categories to choose from with the Vera. So, the question is, what type of device is the fanlinc? It controls both lights and a fan, so it doesn’t really belong in the lights section. The Vera doesn’t seem to have a fan section either, which is why it ended up in the “other” section.
When possible, I have used the sections the Vera provides. I think the problem is that fan controllers like the fanlinc aren’t common enough that the Vera folks have added them to a category.
Nope, sorry. I have been buried at work and not had time to work on Altsteon for a while. (It is the busy season for my job.) I expect things will slow down in about a month and I’ll have a little more time to work on things.
