I'll soon be in the game

Well I finally was able to get commitee approval for my Vera, schlage lock, and thermostat. I was able to purchase them using the promo at asihome. So along with my newly purchased iPod touch and the rest of my existing z-wave goodies I should have a well rounded setup.

I am looking forward to getting started and thank you in advance for any help I may need.

Welcome shady!

hi shady,

Welcome to a fellow noobie !

I am interested in the same products you just bought, but I did not see the bundled promo you mentioned on the asihome web site… would you be kind enough to post that link ?

Welcome JKW and Shady!

I think Shady was talking about the Vera with Schlage look Promo…Anyhow, here is the link http://www.asihome.com/ASIshop/promotions.php

I have found ASI Home to be nothing but very helpful in my Z-Wave endeavors thus far! They are very nice to do business with!

Hope this helps!

Thank You!

Yes, i have a favorable opinion of ASI Home, too. I recently purchased a ThinkStick & ThinkEssentials from them.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Asihome seems great so far, i’m just glad that I didn’t pay extra for the shipping items individually if they were out of stock. Sure enough I rec’d the email that they are out of stock so it would have been money wasted. But the price was right, about the same as Ebay with the Bing 8% cashback.

Hopefully I can help here in the way of my motorized window covering expertise in return for any help I find for Vera.

Hey Shady,

Speaking of motorized window coverings…any news on when the ILT native Z-wave motor will be shipping? I really want to get this installed in my place!

Thanks!

I’m thinking of buying a couple motorized window coverings. What are the cheapest z-wave ones that aren’t junk? Thanks

@Jacobly - Somfy has been saying that it should be ready by the beginning of next year. The box is a small add on for existing ILT motor, so it won’t realy be native or embedded in the motor but the small Z-Wave box is about the size of ESI’s DC Z-Wave controller.

@nolos - That is hard to answer, because of a lack of selection. I don’t think ESI is shipping their embedded Z-Wave Motors just yet. And when they do, they will be new to the market so it’ll be difficult to comment on their reliability. But ESI does a great job with their products so I’m sure they’ll have any bugs worked out before it gets to market. The exisiting options are still to use external controllers from ESI or RSSceneAutomation and Standard Somfy Motors (standard meaning no embedded controller). There are tons of other tubular motor manufacturers and any tubular motor will work, but Somfy has proven quality.

Hunter Douglas owns ESI and as a result they’ll probably have the motors available to them first. We fabricate primarily contract/commecial grade product and rarely work with Hunter Douglas unless required. HD products, while very nice, are also quite expensive, but they are usually high up on the WAF (wife approval factor). If you do want roller shades and can’t wait a few more months then the exisitng option mentioned above is just fine. Techniku is also a good option for residential use.
