I have been looking for a way to trigger a scene in Vera from IFTTT… and came up with nothing…
As I messed with my WEMO switched and got all kinds of love… I was getting more annoyed that Vera is left out of the IFTTT world.
The location services alone are a motivator in IFTTT since i have used the iPhone location plugin and it killed my battery by mid day…that was not going to work for me.
The IFTTT location test that i did resulted in hardly any battery impact if any at all.
Solution… Call a scene from IFTTT… but that does not exist…
I found this hack and it works perfectly! (this is not my work… I just found it)
Add the flickr channel to your IFTTT. You may need to create a flickr account if you don?t have one yet.
Create a new recipe with your chosen trigger.
Add the flick ?upload public photo from url? action as the output
Set the photo url to be the url to your script
Set the title to be anything you like. ?blah? for example.
Save the recipe
You should now have IFTTT pinging your script each time your selected trigger fires. You can even choose which data to send to it from the trigger in the url using IFTTT ingredients.
I’m kind of squinting today (drank too much last night), but it looks like this might only work temporarily.
"Update: This actually doesn?t work as I?d hoped. Because flickr reports an error each time, eventually IFTTT disables the recipe after a few hours of calls. Back to the drawing board."
I was all happy when I read of your discovery then saddened that IFTTT had closed all workarounds. Keep us updated, I’d love to use IFTTT for a few projects I have going.
If you’ve got a spare WeMo switch you can have your IFTTT recipe trip the switch. Don’t actually plug anything into the switch.
Then install the WeMo plugin on the Vera, and the UPnP Event Proxy plugin, and teach Vera about the switch. Then make a scene that reacts to the WeMo switch being turned on.

That certainly shows you have been doing this for while too!
I would actually implement this since all i really want is to use the IFTTT location to open my garage door when I come back from a motorcycle ride.
(i use the G-door plug in and thats all working fine)
