I just can't seem to win... Polling fails, can't configure devices..

Hi Everyone, Mabey someone can help me with these devices.

I have:
2 x HA18C which configure fine, but wont poll
1 x HA-14WD which does not configure, and wont poll
1 x Hawking Technologies HRDS1 - does not configure or poll. Sensor works once then shows as not working,

I have tried everything to get these to work poll/configure and have finally thrown my hands in the air. The devices work, I can turn them on and off, dim the HA-14WD - but I don’t know the status of the devices when I turn on via the web. I am running 1.0.979, if someone could lend me a hand. I have sent in 2 support tickets without a reply back after the first contact.

Thanks

I just got a new Vera as well and can’t get anything to work. I’ve installed a thermostat, get it paired with the dongle, but it won’t ever configure (just sits there with the Red gear icon). I’ve upgraded to the latest firmware as well…

Something bigger going on here? Perhaps some bad hardware?

This is often suggested, so maybe you already tried it: Exclude the device, then include it again.

If that doesn’t work: Exclude the device, do a factory reset to the device and then include it again.

Or this: Exclude the device, remove power from the device, in Vera/Devices/Z-wave devices/(the problem device)/“More” button/ “Permanently remove dead node” button, then Save, then re-include the device.

@CMRancho

I see that you have listed HA01 and HA06 as devices on your network… how?! I cannot get any of these devices to associate with Vera. I’ve read all of Intermatics documentation and even called their Tech Support. Surprisingly, they don’t cover compatibility issues with other devices. :frowning:

I’ve searched the Vera forums and wiki and have not been able to find any examples of how to pair these devices. The dongle never lights up when I attempt to PROGRAM the receptacle or the Dimmer Switch. What am I missing?

Thanks for any response… this has been a costly and frustrating introduction in my new hobby of Home Automation.

Strange. I assume they work in stand-alone mode? The switch turns the light on and off? and the Outlet button controls the one switched outlet? If so, I can’t think what to suggest beyond my previous post. When you “exclude” does the rapid blink on the dongle change at all? Do your other devices work okay? If your Vera is bricked, maybe this is all moot for now…

All my Intermatic stuff works, but there’s a clear difference in quality between that and the Leviton. The Cooper is even higher quality, but extremely expensive and I actually prefer the Leviton actuators. All of us who have been Lutron devotees are feeling like none of the Z-wave devices quite measure up, but I’m getting used to them.

I find your last line funny and true. Please don’t tell my wife how much I’ve spent on this HA hobby of mine! And a frustrating introduction is just the beginning. There are frustrations galore. But beware! Soon, things will start working for you, and before long you’ll find yourself addicted to Vera.

By standalone mode you mean that they work as normal receptacles? Yes. The HA01 (wall receptacles) paired quite easily to my WDHA-12, however, Intermatic tech support says that once they’re paired to another device there is no way to reset them. I guess I have to figure out how to delete them from the WDHA-12 before I can hope to pair with Vera, if that is even possible. I currently have two of the HA01’s paired to Scene 1, but they will only ever turn on. I have to use the default Scene 3 (all off) button to turn them off. Have you had any experience with this?

I just installed the HA06 yesterday and attempted to pair it with the dongle by pressing the dongle button once (starts flashing), then turning the switch on (On/Program button). No indication from either device that something positive was happening. Plugged into Vera (pre-bricking episode) and waited patiently. Nothing, no devices found.

I would really love to create some articles in the wiki so that future hobbyists will hopefully have a smoother ride. Would you be willing to work with me (us) on that? Maybe start by describing how you were able to pair the HA01 and HA06 devices. Outside of seeing the “Supported Hardware” article, I haven’t seen any help document for specific devices. I know every situation will differ a little, but I’d be willing to bet we could save a lot of new users a ton of time if we coordinated our efforts here. Shoot, I have a sweet voice controlled app ready to launch if only I could get off the ground…

Also, sorry if this post is all together in the wrong place. After all, I am a newb.

It sounds like you need to get them excluded (un-paired) from the other controller first. Then pair with Vera’s dongle. I didn’t have any trouble like this, but then I didn’t pair with other controllers first. I do have them working both with Vera and with my minimotes without any conflicts, but I had them working with Vera first. And I have been able to exclude and re-include them. I’ll try to do a little more research and see if I can come up with anything else.

try this procedure i posted here to exclude then include:

i have had no problem using the vera dongle to exclude devices which were previously paired to another controller (have done it on about 8-10 items) . I think exclude would probably be best described as “tell device to forget it’s ever been paired”. So you can use any controller to ‘exclude’ any device.
