Hunter Douglas PowerView

I’m thinking of getting some new remote controlled blinds for my bedroom. I’m getting quotes of around $2k for just one fairly large window using the new Hunter Douglas PowerView. My question is do I REALLY need to buy the PowerView remote? It seems like I would just need the new blind and a bridge. I know a few other users have been able to integrate the blinds using Vera and if I can get control to Vera, then I can use my Echo to control them.

I tried to look into Somfy blinds, but I could never get a rep to call me back. Is there a better/cheaper brand that I could look into as well?

This company seems to have good stuff. I’m hoping to order from them soon:

They seem to have really good response time via email and they’ll send very large free samples. The sample fabric seems to be very good quality.

Thanks for starting this discussion. Was looking at power view but have concerns.

Jlind: Have you discussed pricing with that company? How do they compare to the other options out their on pricing? I see they mention Vera right on their site, so that is a positive. Thanks so much for advising us about this option. I have written then concerning z wave functionality on wired vs battery powered solutions, as I am not set up for wired solutions.

You could just use the Powerview App instead of purchasing the remote, no?

I have several PowerView blinds. You’re really not going to save much money by skipping the remote. The remotes come in handy at times too.

Were you able to incorporate the powerview stuff into vera? I’m looking at purchasing 8 of the Hunter Douglas motorized blinds and want to see how much control I can get through my VeraPlus. I looked at Somfy and they were much more expensive.
