I need a “Sanity-Check”. The answer seems obvious but I would appreciate confirmation.
I have a HSM100 sensor in my car port. I wish to use it to activate lights at night AND alarm upon motion 24x7.
I’ve replaced batteries with 5vdc power so I can keep sensor awake at all times.
Does this mean that:
I cannot use Light Threshold in sensor to disable day-time activation as this would prevent “security” trips?
I need to replace this feature with a (If Light Level > X, Return FALSE) in the event code?
I wish to use it to activate lights at night AND alarm upon motion 24x7.
You could create two scenes.
In the 1st scene, set it up to activate lights on motion. Then add luup.is_night to the luup tab.
I’m not sure if the light sensor trigger works, it’s been about a year since I last tried it and the <> feature didn’t work, I’m not sure if it’s been fixed. Maybe someone can chime in on that.
In the 2nd scene, set it up to activate your alarm on motion.
Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I should have been more clear. The thrust of my question was for educational purposes only. I want to make sure I accurately understand the operation of the sensor. I have succeeded in getting the desired behavior by returning false if the the “Current Level” is above “X”.
Besides light operation, I wish to trap motion regardless of Time-of-Day or current light levels. It is my belief that I CANNOT use the sensors built in “Light Threshold” setting to lock out the trip during bright conditions. Doing so would would not permit me to detect pedestrians walking through my car port on a bright sunny day, correct?
This seems self evident. But I need someone to tell me so!!
Thanks.
