How to set up a Leviton VRMX1-1LZ dimming light switch on Vera 3 controller?

I’m having trouble setting up a Leviton Z-Wave VRMX1-1LZ dimming light switch.

I’ve tried to put it into connecting mode by pushing in the top of the dimmer switch, and then holding it down until the LED light at the bottom is amber, and hitting the zwave button on the Vera 3 controller to add a device. No go. They switch doesn’t seem to want to connect.

Am I using the right method to pair the switch? I see there is a Leviton VRCPG-BSG remote control device available. Do I need to use that to connect it to the Vera controller?

Thanks for your help in advance.

The push top, wait five seconds, push bottom is the method to factory reset the device.

Put the Vera 3 into inclusion mode first (press and let go of the z-wave button, it will blink). Then I believe you simply have to turn it on by pressing the bottom of the pad. Exit the inclusion mode by pressing and letting go of the z-wave button again).

I think when I did mine it actually helped to exclude the device first, and then run the inclusion. To exclude, press and let go of the z-wave button (to put into include mode). HOLD the z-wave button for about 3 seconds and let go. The light will blink rapidly, this is the exclude mode. Press the bottom of the light switch (like you’re turning it on). This will exclude the light. Return to inclusion mode by holding the z-wave button for about 3 seconds and letting go. You will see the light blink slower and you will be in inclusion mode.

You don’t need the remote control device.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve installed mine… hope this helps.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have the same dimmer and was able to get it paired correctly. However, any time I turn it on through vera (ie not from the actual switch) it turns it back to 100% brightness as opposed to the previous dim level. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing that tells vera to send just the “on” command without the “level” command?
