How To Replace Your Controller

So I received the replacement VeraSecure and need to begin the process of migrating from one controller to the other. I’ve searched for any “How To” documents on this matter and haven’t found any. Other than removing a device - one by one - and adding it to the new controller, is there another way? OR is there a FAQ or documented steps on the correct way to do this?

Thanks

Customer Care can probably do a restore of a backup of the old controller.

Good idea. Pretty sure I could do that. But the devices will be bound to the old controller. Hence - what I was thinking - you have to first unassociate them right?

You can back up your Z-Wave devices (network) and your configuration and scenes and bring them over to the new controller. But I second Don’s suggestion about Customer Care–there have been enough issues that having them do the transfer is probably the safest approach.

If you saved a backup of your Vera, you can upload your backup to your new Vera and include restore zwave network (check box in restore window).
Nothing else will be needed. Done this 5 or 6 thousand times.

You think customer care involvement would be a part of any warranty replacement. I’ve sent several emails to customer care asking for instructions already. No response. Hence I’m posting here.

Thank you for contacting me Customer Care. As you implied, I searched using the phrase “Migrate” which DID yield the article. Everything else I tried didn’t work but knowing the correct word helps. Here is the article:

Note: Customer Care - please update your document. The “Restore Z-Wave Network” checkbox must be checked in order for it to restore . . . well . . . . your z-wave network. ;D ;D ;D

Please see my attached images. One is of what you see in your instructions (which I followed and NONE of my devices were there after the restore) and the check-box that needs to be checked in order to get your Z-Wave devices restored.

Thanks for the heads up. :-[

Word of warning,

I did that to migrate from an VEdge to Pro and whilst it works just fine, it also copies the Root user and password across, so if you ever need support or just need root access, the details on your new unit won’t work, you need it from the old unit.

Cheers
