In Australia, we mostly have a flush fit, the switches I posted the link to fit OK with or without a shim.
Building codes in other countries will possibly stipulate different Doors/Windows.
I don’t know if you have experimented at all, but if it’s only a few millimetres, then it’s probably close enough for the magnet to close the reed relay. It perhaps works anyway?

No, have the sensor on the outer frame of the window and the magnet on the moving part.
You are right, I life in Germany…
Most house windows in North America are sliding or double hung type and these sensors work fine on those. Looks like the spacer should work fine. Alignment does not have to be perfect either.
