How to install Fibaro Door Sensor

Hi all,

At home (Germany) I have this kind of window

My problem is how to install the Fibaro Window/Door sensor.
I cannot find a solution to allow the two pieces to match :frowning:

Thanks
Marco

You could use some of these.

I’ve linked the selection, the ones at the bottom can be attached with adhesive tape and work with Qubino Modules.

Note: These devices are available from Qubino Australia, You should be able to find a local supplier.

Sorry, I do not understand. How can they help me to install the Fibaro sensor? The problem I am facing is that they are not aligned…

Then your only solution is to “pad” (shim) out whatever switch you are using so they do align.

Do you have a link to the sensor you are using?

Fibaro window/door sensor.
So I have to put a couple of millimeter to align them

yes, if’s it’s only 1 or 2mm you could do that just with a couple of layers of Double sided contact tape.

Ok but what I do not understand is that all the people should face the problem as all the windows have the same frame structure/design

Only if you happen to live in Europe…

In Australia, we mostly have a flush fit, the switches I posted the link to fit OK with or without a shim.
Building codes in other countries will possibly stipulate different Doors/Windows.

Unfortunately, one size does not fit all.

I don’t know if you have experimented at all, but if it’s only a few millimetres, then it’s probably close enough for the magnet to close the reed relay. It perhaps works anyway?

It is about 4mm.
These windows are standard is new building in Germany…company is Fresand.

Here a picture:

I think the Fibaro has a auxiliary input. I bought one of these http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZOQ0RQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 wired it to my mimolite auxillary inputs and it works great on my garage door (big gap). it comes with two extra spacers as well.

Another option would be get one of these http://www.amazon.com/951WG-WH-Ademco-Stubby-Recessed-Contact/dp/B001UKY1A4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1422239872&sr=1-1&keywords=recessed+magnetic&pebp=1422239884701&peasin=B001UKY1A4 then bring the wire up to your Fiabaro auxiliary input.

Sorry but I do not understand…my problem is that I cannot align the two pieces. So you suggest to use only the sensor of fibaro and attached to the input port an external door sensor?

Thanks
Marco

What is if you use a spacer as thick as the frame of the window (~18mm) to heighten the sensor?

18mm? I think it is less, isn’t it?

Yes, I think I will end up using a spacer.
Shall I put the bigger part of the sensor (which one having the LED) on the moving window or the main structure?

Do you live in Germany, or am I wrong?

Best to put the larger piece which has all the electronics and battery on the fixed frame, if you have the option.

Yes, that was my idea too
And then put the smaller part on the window itself with a spacer to make them align…tough not nice to see :frowning:

No, have the sensor on the outer frame of the window and the magnet on the moving part.
You are right, I life in Germany…

Ok, I will try (as first without spacer)

PS: you have a PM

Most house windows in North America are sliding or double hung type and these sensors work fine on those. Looks like the spacer should work fine. Alignment does not have to be perfect either.

@MarcoGT - you have PM.
