How to get a removed device "back"

Today I deleted two of my temperature sensors. Reason for that is the fact that I manually entered a value for the temperature. Just to test some stuff. I expected the temperature to be updated by the sensor after a while, but it didnt.

So my idea was to delete the devices and I expected them to be picked up after a while. But they dont.

The setup is a Vera Lite with an USB RFXcom module attached. The sensors are both 433mhz sensors. Before I messed up things, the temperature was being updated frequently. So no “out of range” issues are expected.

My question is: what is the way to get those sensors back in the Vera GUI? I did some reloading and rebooting. No luck so far.

You could restore from a backup made before you deleted them. Use a local backup if you made one or else one of the ones that Vera uploads automatically to the MCV site. You should find them listed on the SETUP → Backup tab. You will need to login on the ACCOUNT tab first.

Thanks. That worked. Im nevertheless a bit amazed that this is the way to get a device back. Is there a way to re-detect the device and add it again?

There are different types of devices … With different behaviors. Often you can re discover a device. In this case it will have a different Vera ID.

This will screw up an automation logic that was dependent on the deleted device.

That’s why it s best to do a restore.

I see the benefit of that in many cases indeed. But in some cases I don’t care about the changed ID, how should I initiate a re-discover?
