How to control a 5000 Watt electric heater ?

I am looking at how I could integrate my 5000 watt garage heater to my z-wave network.

I found out that it could be done with an Aube rc840t-240 relay and a Honeywell rth9580wft thermostat.

I have found this diagram about connection

But I’m unsure how the tstat must be configured to correctly work with this configuration, should I configure it as :
1- Forced Air
2- Heat Pump
3- Hot water or steam

Am I right to assume I will only be using the C,W and R wire on the thermostat ?

Thanks for any help

For heat only it does not matter.
C - Common (Needed for Device Power)
R - Power -
W - Heat Requested (When thermostat calls for heat (in all three modes) the R and W are connected.

Those modes pretty much control the
Y - Cooling
G - Fan
XX - Other wires

Actually you should use Forced Air or Hot water/steam
Otherwise there might be a couple of deg difference between when the R-W are connected. It might treat this as the emergency heat in a multi-stage heat pump.

Thank’s again Richard, I’m actually building a secure box for the connection and the relay and I should try the setup tomorrow.
