How to add Leviton Controllers to Vera Lite?

I am repeatedly failing to add Leviton scene controllers (RZCS4) to my Vera Lite (latest firmware) network. I did previously succeed to add a couple controllers at the begining of my setup. Due to a strange behavior of the controllers (the scenes would only be trigerred at 10% for all dimmers), I removed the two controllers I had configured. Now, I am trying to add them back to the network without any success. I am also trying to add any of the other 4 controllers I have in the house without a glimpse of success.

I never found a procedure that is specific to the Vera Lite but generally followed the procedure outlined here http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Leviton_Scene_Controller.

Now it just does not work. I add the devices to the network but when they are added, nothing on them can be configured. I get the message ‘Cannot get any information on node’. I tried removing them from Vera, rebooting, resetting the controllers, etc, without any success.

Does anyone have a robust procedure for adding Leviton controllers to Vera Lite? Is there something I am missing?

Any type of feedback is appreciated.

Nick.

Maybe try the following (untested/from memory):

 • Button 1+3 until blinking amber LEDs.
 • Put Vera in exclusion mode; wait for exclusion to complete.
 • Button 1+3 until blinking red LEDs.
 • Button 1+3 until blinking amber LEDs.
 • Put Vera in inclusion mode; wait for inclusion to complete.

I don’t think the Vera model matters.

Given the apparent issues with 1.5.408 in relation to Leviton controllers, I’ll see if I can test inclusion/exclusion with 1.5.408 tonight.

Thanks very much for the quick reply :).

I’ll try that first thing when I get home tonight.

Success! I was not waiting long enough for the inclusion to complete. It takes quite a while in my case (over 1 minute maybe).

Now that I can include the controller I could go back to my tests and do the following observations:

 1. If a scene involves only switches, assigning a scene to a controller button works quite well.
 2. If a scene involves dimmers, the results from pressing the button vary from either setting only a portion of the requested % or a fraction of the devices. The scenes triggered form the Web interface work fast and flawlessly.
 3. As suggested by PurdueGuy, setting a delay on dimmer scenes before the scene gets triggered solves the problem. The dimmers get all set at the requested %. The LED on the controller however does not get set.

Am I alone with this partial scene activation when no delay is set?

Thanks for the help to oTi and PurdueGuy!

Nice! Thanks for the feedback. I’ll skip on testing it myself then.

It shouldn't behave that way. But, as said, something appears to be amiss with 1.5.408 in this regard. I had no problems with scenes while using a previous version of the UI.
