How do I retrieve device categories?

I need to retrieve the device category for each device so I know what kind of device it is. However the only way I have seen to retrieve the category is using “data_request?id=simple_device_list”, which is in something similar to a windows ini file format. Is there another way to get each device’s category?

I was hoping to see it in “user_data” or in “data_request?id=zwave_status” but it doesn’t seem to be there.

This is stored in the static json file and can be retried with
http://192.168.81.1/cgi-bin/cmh/get_json.sh?file=template_data.json
