How do I downgrade from UI4 to UI2?

Hi I’m trying to downgrade from UI4 to UI2. Seems to me it should be simple enough but it seems to fail for me all the time. Could someone please enlighten me?

Went to the Official Annoucements, got the link “http://download.mios.com/betafirmware/wl500gP_Luup_ui2-1.0.996-1.trx”

in UI4 i go to “Advanced” and then the “Firmware” tab
Put it in “Advanced URL for MiOS custom firmware:” I click download

Then I get
"
Please wait while downloading firmware image …

Failed to download the Firmware Url!!!

Click here and try again
"

[li]Does it download using your browser?[/li]
[li]In the firmware tab in advanced, does it test the connection to download.mios.com OK?[/li][/ul]

Something I’ve found when upgrading the firmware is that it may fail to upgrade first time if my Vera has been up for many days; however after a power cycle it will normally work.

If you have a Vera2 then I’m not sure what the downgrade method really is, given that the newer UI4 upgrades are designed to only write the Vera stuff and not the OpenWRT firmware to a separate partition, then using the link you have, It might not be possible to write everything as it it used to !?

I should have mentioned that

I have a Vera 2
The link does download from the browser okay
in the firmware tab, it does say:

"Testing connection to: download2.mios.com … OK
You are running the latest version: 1.1.992 .
"

I tried power cycling the box and running it, and it still didn’t run. What I do find interesting is that if you do a packet sniffer trace:

From my vera:

  1. Although the link says download2.mios.com, the vera requests download.mios.com, but they are the same ip address
  2. The file it’s trying to get: ./betafirmware/wl500gP_Luup_ui2-1.0.996-1.squashfs. so it seems to be a different link then what i pasted into the box, and that file is not found on the server.
