Home Security Store - Riverside, CA

Anyone in the US dealt with this company recently? I want to replace my current alarm system with a DSC system and integrate it into my VeraLite, but I cannot get anyone to answer the phone. I’ve left messages the past 3 days indicating my desire to purchase all the components I need, but no one has returned my calls.

The other thing I noticed is that they don’t appear to be carrying the Envisalink EVL-3 anymore - strange.

At this point I’m leery of creating an account and ordering stuff on a credit card. Any advice appreciated.

I don’t have much info for you beyond my own experience recently which sounds pretty similar to yours.

I was going to order a DSC system from them but was having issues checking out - sent an email with no response and a phone call with no answer - decided to spend my money elsewhere. Twas a shame since they had good prices and selection.

I purchased my entire alarm system from them (DSC 1832) and later went back and purchased wifi smokes.
no issues, eveyrthing sent on time and was new in box and in good shape.
so no problems on the ordering/shipping process.
I can’t speak to customer service via phone or email, as i’ve never tried.
but if i were to purchase anything else alarm related i would buy from them again.

They have my vote of confidence …

Thank you all for the comments. With no feedback, I probably would have taken the route picklz took, and gone somewhere else. But with a couple endorsements here, I’ll place my order tomorrow and see what happens.

I’ll report back later. Cheers.

They have been in business a very long time. I purchased stuff from them way back in 2003.

I used them as well for my system. Everything went pretty well. Sales was helpful and my single call post-sale was handled well . Hope they are still in business.

Well, I’m back, and not with good news.

I tried two different ways of buying DSC system components

  1. Chose the option of checking out my cart as a guest
  2. Created an account, waited two days (immediately received the standard email thanking me for creating an account)

In either case, with my cart full, I select Secure Checkout (the only checkout option.) I then agree to my billing and shipping address. At that point, I get two different error messages, which I cannot get beyond. One is “Sorry, no quotes are available for this order at this time.” and the other is “Your order cannot be completed at this time as there is no shipping methods available for it. Please make necessary changes in your shipping address.” I cannot proceed further, but the store’s main phone number is listed along with a notice that if I’m experiencing checkout difficulties to call them. This I do, knowing it’s the same number I’ve called a dozen times this week with no answer. Once again, no one answers any of 4 extensions that I have.

My only conclusion regarding the frustrations of the past week is that the store is going out of business or already has done so. (Nothing on this from internet searches.) So, tomorrow I will locate another retailer selling DSC systems and make my purchase there. Unreal.

I find that very strange! I too bought all my stuff from them albeit a few years back, I even had to return a few wireless sensors because I ordered too many, no problem whatsoever. Then a couple of months ago I had a configuration problem. After going as far as hard resetting the panel and entering everything back in by hand, I pulling my hair out for almost a week. Then, I decided to give them a call and spoke to someone in their technical support. The first thing I stated was that my purchase was 3+ years old, no problem was the answer I got. And, in about 15 minutes the guy I spoke to solved my issue. I would say they are one of the best companies I have had to deal with, customer service-wise, in the last ten years. So, I would be very surprised if they went under.

There are a number of entries on their FB page reflecting the stopped trading

This store is literally a half mile from my house. Next time I go out I will swing by and see if they are open.

It would suck if they are out of business. I need to order a few replacement sensors for ones that are going screwy.

Here’'s the CEPro article on the event…

Well, that sucks.

With them out of business, where is a good place to find DSC items. I bought my system from them and wanted to add more sensors.

Looks like their under new ownership… Grand reopening January 27th…

That’s great news. I need to order some replacement sensors.

I had previously ordered from HomeSecurityStore.com three or four times, and so didn’t think anything about ordering $400 worth of additional sensors back on December 28th. After a week or two I realized the order never shipped, so I started e-mailing and then trying to call them. Their voice mail system just said they were ‘closed’, even though I was calling during their listed operating hours. I kept e-mailing, with no response ever from their end, until January 28th when I finally filed a dispute with Paypal. Paypal gave them until January 31st to respond - they didn’t - and hence Paypal refunded my money.

Note that as of today, February 9th, there STILL isn’t a phone number listed on their website - it was apparently removed when they first started having problems. Until that changes - until you can actually call them and verify they are in business - I strongly recommend avoiding their website. It will take your money - but that doesn’t mean they will actually fill the order.

Been out of the tinkering business for a while, been plugging along with my initial setups. Now I see this post - WOW. Bought thousands of $$ of stuff from them for 3 setups.

Any update on the re-opening? I see a website, different logo. Looking for alternates or assurances the new folks are reliable/responsive
