Help on three way

Hi,
It seems like I am not the only one having trouble with this. Here is a diagram of how I have it wired. they are GE switches.
I tried to put the drawing in the body of the post but it is attached.
Thanks,
Andy
ADDED: I have included the master into the network and tried to include the companion but I guess it does’nt work that way.

The companion switch merely sends a signal back to the master; it is not a zwave device.

It looks wired correctly, so the big question is… Does it work OK?

Assuming you are 100% sure your wires are identified properly (ie: Load is going to light, neutral is from the neutral bundle in each box and Line is 120VAC source or hot) you have it wired correctly, although I would ask you to clarify that your neutral connection as shown is actually pigtailed to your neutral bundle in each switch box correct? Not just wired together as the diagram shows?

If you are getting switched power from the master (45609) then your load is working, next please also verify you have continuity at each end of the traveler (or as you mentioned, if you have 120 volts at each traveler terminal in each box that would also indicate continuity).

Other than that I have been seeing a rash of defective traveler terminals in the 45609 master lately (about 4 in 1000 units sold, over double the normal rate) so it may be defective. Not the 45610 but the traveler terminal only ON the 45609 master.

haworld is right, I missed that you had a direct contact between the Neutral on both switches.

yes, but connecting the Neutral to the mains Neutral in either of the switch boxes is OK here. So if you are missing a Neutral on either end, just connect the other end to the mains Neutral too and you will be fine.

Thanks for the pointers. I am pretty sure I have the traveler ID’ed I grounded one end and ohm’d it but I need to double check the neutral.
thanks again,
Andy

You never answered @Bulldoglowell’s question; does the primary switch work?

As @haworld pointed out, your diagram is lacking an additional neutral wire that is essential. If your diagram matches real life, the switch will not work correctly because it is missing that neutral wire.

Look at my diagram below.

The primary is working correctly. Yes the diagram does not show a connection to house neutral. The neutral is connected on the primary but I have yet to verify the neutral connection on the companion switch. I hope to do that in the morning.
Thanks again,
Andy

Good to see I’m not the only one who’s having trouble with the Aux switch. This is the 2nd set Ive had that I can get the primary to work, but not the aux.

So zwaver, the black traveler is capped off? only using the red traveler? I am going to hook up the ge three way switch combo tonight or tomorrow on three of my three way switches.

PN 45614 GE

Also one of my three ways has two separate lights on it… does this change the wiring?

That is correct.

I'm not sure I understand this statement. Do you mean that you have two bulbs or two can lights on a 3-way pair of switches? If so, the wiring is should be similar regardless of the number of lights.

But, all of this depends on what you have in your walls. There are many different configurations. For example, see the attached diagram.
