( I have both brands of these sensors. They look identical except for the color.)
When I try to do any sort of custom configuration, I get the “red gear” icon indicating that it’s not communicating to the device.
Does anyone know of a work-around to custom configure these devices? The everspring manual lists some of the adjustable/programmable parameters that I’d like to change. http://www.techstyleuk.co.uk/index_files/sm103_manual.pdf
I found it is best to pair the devices in the room with Vera prior to installing them. That way you can test them on the desk to make sure everything is OK. I found the best sequence was to start the Vera Add new device wizard and have it searching for new devices in step 2, then popping the battery into the Hawking sensor and pressing the Intrusion mechanism within the first 10-15 seconds to initiate pairing. I had to attempt this more than once, hence the reson for recommending doing it on the desk next to Vera or whever that may be for you.
I don’t have any problems with the pairing. In fact, the units have been paired and in use for some time.
My high level issue is that the batteries die rather quickly (after a few months). I wanted to adjust the timeout and also ensure the “sleep” mode was turned on with the door sensor. (it’s supposed to be by default). I would expect a door sensor to be fairly simple.
I find the Hawking motion sensor similarly poor for battery life, and it has the larger AA batteries.
In contrast, the HomeSeer HSM100 with motion, temperature, and ambient light sensor also takes 3 AAA batteries, and I’ve not changed batteries on that device for about 1.5 years now.
