Okay, at first I paired the sensor with Vera, but it ONLY showed up as a motion detector. So I deleted it and tried again, but now Vera won’t add it at all. I see the orange LED blink rapidly after I press the little black button on the sensor, but then when I try to advance in the software it says I didn’t add any devices. I did!
I tried a couple more times and I’m now able to get the motion detector back, but I bought this thing to be more than a motion detector.
So what am I doing wrong?
Also, I think I’m very confused as to how this device works. Please explain how the thing operates. I gather it only wakes up every so often in order to conserve batteries. That’s great, and I get it. But then how does it operate as a motion detector if it’s only turning on every few minutes? Doesn’t seem like it would be too secure to me Or is the motion sensor always active?
the motion sensor always reports motion, the “wakeup” is for reporting the other parameters. Check the forum for other threads on this but in short you have to contact MCV and they may have a beta firmware to correct your configuration problem. Good luck
Yikes! I had no idea that it wasn’t supported yet. Well, that stinks…
I guess I’ll hold on to it for now and hope it gets supported sometime in the future, but that’s certainly disappointing. The Wiki for MCV seems very clear that the sensor will show up as four sensors in the configuration panel
True. Unfortunately, support was added and the wiki page was written, many months ago, based on a (presumably) sample version of the device. The firmware in the device has since changed. I updated the wiki with a note.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Sorry to call out the wiki moderators! Didn’t mean to do that. Hopefully support for this version of the sensor will come. It’s a nifty device and I’d love to be able to use all of its features. I guess for now I’ll probably spring for the cheapest temp sensor I can find…
No worries. It took about a minute. It’s a long-awaited device and just too bad things were changed. Some users have them running with private beta Vera firmware. Presumably the changes will make it into the next public beta release.
I can’t wait! I have it working quite well as a motion sensor, but that seems like a waste of its potential Then again, most motion sensors I’ve seen are pretty much the same price, so I don’t feel like I’ve wasted any money, at least…
…unless I’m mistaken and there’s like a $25 motion sensor out there…
