Good way to show on dashboard that cameras are on

Good day !,

I run a Blue iris system (not with the Blue iris plugin on vera), I controll the Cameras with http commands.
Disabling/enabling the cameras is done via a virtual switch.

Lots of time I forget to switch the ( in house) cameras off. I allready tried the ping sensor but that seems to be unreliable with my samsung S5 phone.
I got some walltablet where I would like to view if the cameras are on or off on a dashboard tile, but I want it to look nice as well , any ideas?
This is what I self came up with:
1)display one of the cameras in a small tile , with an update of every minute or so , but when the cameras are disabled it will show "error , unable to connect etc…doesn’t look good.
2)create a camera in Blue iris with just a red or green screen or text , depending on the profile and if the cameras are enable or disabled it will show the status… but it is an extra camera , probably extra cpu usage of the computer.
3)show the virtual switch in imperihome dashboard, with on and off , but that will not be obvious enough.
4)A dynamic icon with a gif-file ,which flashes when on , and steady when off … I don’t think you can create dynamic icons in imperihome and I am also not sure if you can use gif files.
5) …??? anyone with a neater solution?

Thanks,
Cor
