Hi: I’m new.
Setup a house with Vera Edge. Purchased two GoControl Thermostats, some sensors, garage door openers, and Yale locks. I researched all products to ensure they were on the “Works with Vera” section of their website. Everything works fine – except the thermostats. There is no reliable way of setting the cool and heat set points from Vera. They just don’t work accurately. (works perfect using the manual keypad of course.) Secondly, there is no way through the UI to set the “away” mode that the thermostat supports. Trying to set it using several scenes doesn’t work either since the set points don’t accurately set. Tech support says “Your suggestion will need to go through a thorough analysis process and if it is approved, based on the priority, it will be added into the development queue.” I find it interesting that it wouldn’t support this seemingly basic feature for products that are on their “works with vera” section. Today, I was thinking of replacing them and went to the thermostats section of their site, and low and behold, the GoControl thermostats are no longer listed in the “works with vera.” Hmm… Two questions:
- Has anyone reliably gotten the set points to work with Vera UI7 and the GoControl thermostat.
- Is it common for products on the “works with vera” section to not really be compatible? I want to try to avoid future mistakes.
- The numerical rating they give “works with vera” products doesn’t seem to have a listing of what that means anywhere… does anyone know? When something is a “6” or an “8” what does that represent?
- Their tech support via email is pretty slow and takes a couple of rounds for them to understand the question. (For example for my setting setpoints and away question, their first response is to “clear my cache” in my browser). Is that normal?
Thanks.
