Getting started with LUUP - Any real guide for newbies?

Since MCV can’t seem to generate a guide absent jargon and “Coming Soon” tags, has anyone put together a newbie guide to LUUP, including how to edit and insert or run code; some basic code examples; and a few resources to go further?
