I hope you can help me.
I am trying to get my Fortrezz WV-01 water valve to work and be recognized with my Vera 3, U15, 1.5.622.
The valve is recognized as a light switch, I have tried the default switch setting.
I have also tried urn:schemas-micasaverde-com:device:Relay:1 with D_Relay1.xml
When the water valve in included the hard wired water sensor probe does not work, it works when excluded from the Vera 3.
Vera does show the correct status, i.e. if it is open or closed.
I do not know how can query the status of the water valve.
Does anyone know how to get Vera to recognize the water valve correctly?
It’s not easy to understand but here is the first step.
Fortrezz page 6 - 7 instructions, Water Alarm Mode or Water Level Mode.
Which one is yours set to?
Check on the Vera Dashboard, Water Valve Module, Device Options, Variable.
Is it set to 1, Water level Mode?
Is it set to 0, Water Alarm Mode?
Note Page 6, Item 7: The local water probe connected to the Water Valve will only operate in Water level Mode when the Water Valve is not in a network.
Hi miagrip
You hit my issue on the head.
I was in water level mode which is why the wired probe did not work.
Changed to water alarm mode, which I want and the probe now works.
All happy now.
Thank you.
Does anyone have experience with these valves operating with Vera? It seems that we had setup problems but no installation success stories? Do these work well as emergency shutoff valves?
Mine works well in an emergency. A couple of times leaks from hair etc from the door of a washing machine and another detected a leak from my hot water heat pump. The valve shuts off, the siren / strobe goes off and I get messages and emails that it has tripped. I wired a switch into the face of the Fortrezz siren to turn it off for a while so we can find the problem. When the batteries go low in the detectors it also warns you. Works for me…
Thanks for the information. It doesn’t seem that they are overly used. I guess the high price discourages wider adoption. Did you have it installed before or after the main water cutoff? In other words, is there still a house cutoff between the value and the city water supply?
Yes they are pricey but I did not want something that seemed like it would not last or was not robust, hopefully should stand the test of time. The Fortrezz water valve is between my main water shutoff and my faucets etc. So I can turn off my main water shutoff and work on the Fortrezz valve if necessary. I think this is the way Fortrezz recommend it is installed.
Also note the wired probe will not work when in Water Level Mode after it has been added to Vera.
What will you use to monitor water level?
I would also consider some sort of battery backup because in case of a power failure, the valve will not be able to close.
Something like a heating zone valve which normally closes when its 24v is removed could be an alternative.
I have a dumb newbie question: I’ve installed a Fortrezz WV-01 water valve and have enrolled it into my new Vera Edge UI7 system. It appears as a light switch. Although I am able to open and close the valve, when the valve is open, the light switch indicates Off; when the valve is closed, the light indicates On. This is the opposite of what is desired. How can this be corrected? Thanks in advance for your assistance.
UPDATE: After contacting Vera and enabling remote tech support, they modified the device to make it a relay rather than a switch. It now indicates correctly. However, it still appears as a light on the mobile app.
Tech Support modified it after inclusion by changing the .xml and .json files, from the device?s control panel under the Advanced tab > Params. The correct names it should have are, D_Relay1.xml and D_Relay1.json .

All–
In the water level mode there is a period during which time the WV-01 cannot be remotely (i.e., through vera) be turned back on (i.e., valve re-opened). The manual says it is 60 minutes is the default. Does anyone know how to change that timeout period? (It seems longer than 60 minutes).
The default value to turn the valve on is 60 minutes according to the manual, never tried it.

Parameter 1 page 8.
It can be changed if the valve is included into Vera.
Go back into the device, Device Options, and read what value the valve has returned for parameter 1.
I believe you should get 60, never tried it.
To change mode, ‘Add configuration setting’, Variable - 1, Data size - 1 byte hex, Desired Value - “0” or for how many minutes delay you want.

Hi bd8134
Thanks for your input. That got me focused on the correct parameters. One correction:
To change mode, should be: ‘Add configuration setting’, Variable - 1, Data size - 2 bytes hex, Desired Value - “0” or for how many minutes delay you want.
Note the 2 bytes hex vice the 1 byte hex. Took me a while to figure it out…
