If you have an Android phone, Tasker and AutoVera (there is an AutoVera subforum in the Remote Control section) can do what you want. I have my phone programmed using Tasker to run a “HoneyIAmHome” scene when it first connects to my home Wifi.
There may be other third party apps that do the same thing, both on Android and Apple.
If so, then make that an optional feature. As it would require to use Vera’s WiFi to connect my phone to. I, and I am sure others, do not use Vera’s WiFi for connecting one’s phone to. I rather connect it to my dual band one and forego the additional load the connection would put on Vera.
You can actually do this if you have a router that runs or can run DD-WRT. See below thread. I’ve been using this for most of te year on UI5 with an Android phone with great success.
To make it clear i want specify the ssid, i don’t want to use the ssid of the vera, i want to determen if i am connect to ssid ABC i am home
The vera creators have implied they have IFTTT support on their roadmap so that’ll be cool.
In the mean time I ended up writing an external app that polls my dd-wrt router to see if various MAC’s are on the wifi and if so toggles appropriate virtual switches in the vera. Close enough for science.
Isn’t this what the Ping Sensor does?
My understanding was that Vera pinged the Router to determine if the phone has established a WiFi connection with it.
I’m using a VeraLite, so it might work differently for a Vera3 with WiFi.
