Genie SilentMax 1000 Garage Door Opener

Hey, I’m relatively new to zwave and the Vera 3 system. I’ve lurked here quite sometime before making the plunge with Vera 3 and some Kwikset locks. I recently found the youtube video on how to control opening and closing the garage door using zwave. I purchased an intermatic receptacle and 110v relay from Radio Shack. However, after following the instructions in other threads I’m unable to get the garage door to respond by wiring in the relay parrallel with the wall mounted Genie control (3 buttons: open close, light, and lock). After some reading online I found that Genie garage doors made after 2010 utilize a digital control system for the open/close from the wall mounted control. Can someone help me with a work-around on getting my current configuration to work? I did find one thread where a 2gig gdr1 was modified by soldering wires inside either a genie remote or the wired wall mounted console to hack the digital codes. Any help would be much appreciated

My old house had a genie garage door opener and that is what I did. took a remote and soldered two small wires across the two copper terminals where the push button completes the circuit, then wire that on the N.O. terminals of your relay.

Have you tried wiring the outputs from the relay to the 3 and 4 terminals on the garage door opener itself? The wall console is an normally open switch that is triggered when you press the button for 2-5 seconds. Try using a jumper wire on terminals 3 and 4 to see if the garage door opener is triggered. Could you also post a photo or diagram on how you have the relay wired?

Based on the pdf below.

Wiring Diagram on page 20. Are you using the intelligent wall console or the normal wall console?

Thanks SteveZ, after toying with the remote last night I think this is the way to go. Now to test my soldering skills as the contacts on these new remotes are extremely small!

FireBird, jumping the 3 & 4 terminals do not open/close the door. With the intellicode II model I have the series III wall control is what I have.

You are really brave steveZ !!!
if talking about me then i can’t do like you did!!! This is just because i have seen lots of dangerous accidents during managing the garage door opener!!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but any chance anyone knows what thread OP was referring to?
