Over the past few months, I’ve been working with my Vera Edge to get my devices setup. Some work first time, others need a few tweaks… Some I have had to un-pair and re-pair a number of times… Each time the Device# and Node# automatically increase… The Edge is supposed to support 220 devices, although I’m nowhere near that, my Device# have reached about halfway… So I have the following questions…
- What happens when my device numbers exceed 220
- What is the difference between Device# and Node#
- Is there a way to re-sequence the numbers in order to recover the unused Device# or Node#

Though the two labels are sometimes interchanged in different parts of Vera.
Device# is a number in Vera's database used to indicate Z-Wave devices, plugins, other devices... I'm not aware of any limit to this number, but there likely is a limit in the 65,000 range due to the way computers and programmers count with hexadecimal words.
Node# is the Z-Wave network NodeID or node number. Z-Wave networks are limited to 232 actual devices. If you need to add more devices, you add another network. Within a particular Z-Wave network, the numbers will roll over to the next available node number. You can’t run out of doe numbers without actually having more than 232 Z-Wave devices.
3. Is there a way to re-sequence the numbers in order to recover the unused Device# or Node#
The only way to re-sequence is to start with a new network, including each device into the new Z-Wave network. As already explained, available numbers are reused automatically, so there is no need to re-sequence.
