I want to use an existing wall switch location to control an outlet and smart switch. I created a scene to do this based on the state of the ge switch and that worked kinda for a day. Now it doesn’t work at all. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You’ll likely need to relocate Vera closer to the switch in order to get your previous behavior back permanently. You are at the edge or beyond the range for pseudo Instant Status. Search the forums for Instant Status and GE.
If your existing wall switch is not directly controlling a load, I would recommend that you replace it with a
Linear WT00Z-1 3-Way Wall Accessory Switch
If your switch does directly control a load, then I would recommend that you use a Leviton VRS15-1LZ Vizia RF + 15A Scene Capable Switch
Using a switch that doesn’t have “instant status” to control another device is not always going to work right. And even with instant status the best way is to use associations if you want them to always be directly connected.
GE’s don’t support instant status altho if they are close enough to the VERA (has a direct route and doesn’t get sent threw a repeater node) then they can act as if they do have instant status in most cases.
If you don’t have a instant status swtich and you turn on a light switch it may take vera a few min to go around each device and “poll” for it’s current status then update it in vera. After that happens then vera will turn on the other light but it could be minutes later. You can test this by watching vera ui for the light status when you turn on the physical switch and see when vera actually notices the light was turned on.
