Hi-
Just installed a ZW4001 2-way switch. I connected the line and load wires, but the switch doesn’t close. I confirmed that the line is still hot, but I can’t get the lights to turn on. I don’t see the LED light up either. It’s not a requirement to pair it with my vera, is it? Could that be the problem?
Is this a GE 45609 On/Off switch right? (looks like this?)
Did you connect neutral? Your post only mentions line and load, but not neutral.
It does not have to be paired with Vera to function manually.
Yes, that’s the one. I only connected 2 wires (line and load). Should there be a 3rd wire in the wire bundle from the light? My previous switch only had these 2 wires connected and the ground wire was tied to the metal case.
Yes. On/Off switches require a neutral, since they use power all the time.
Some dimmers require a neutral, some do not.
Be sure to check the manual for these switches…they are usually not simply drop-in replacements for manual switches.
I just recently installed a similar GE/Jasco switch. It required 4 wires to work properly. Line, Load, Ground, Neutral.
I found the ground bare copper wires and the white neutral wires in the back of my box. To use the neutral correctly I had to buy some insulated 14 gauge solid copper wire. I used a 6" piece and added it into the existing “twisted” neutral wire group.
