Should not be impossible but not easy too…
Why do you want to turn off your Synology ?? It should have efficient power saving function…
Regarding the recording, you should take a look at Synology package called “surveillance station”.
It’s an add-on specialy made for video-surveillance.

thx, I am using the surveillance system. I would like to power down the synology when my foscam is not active
ok, maybe you can setup a scene that issue an shutdown SSH command to the Synology.
You then need to define what will trigger this scene to shut-off the NAS…
The motion detector funtion of the Foscam may help but I found it not reliable enough…
Personally, I will prefere to use the WOL for tuning ON and put a short delay before it goes in deep sleep.
This way it will never go sleep if there is still any activity …
