Foscam Plugin changed to 'VistaCam PT&HD IP Cameras'

I was poking around in my Apps tab of UI5 today and noticed that the Foscam Plugin that I had has magically changed to ‘VistaCam PT&HD IP Cameras v3.0’.

My Foscam camera’s still work, but I found this change to be interesting. I’m guessing someone at MCV has been making changes and combined the VistaCam and Foscam plugins.

I pity the poor fools that buy cams from MCV… at least with the Vera MCV makes the unit, and look at the ‘support’ you get. With a re-badged cam I’d not count on them ever putting out a firmware update. And with cams, which are always buggy, firmware usually gets several updates before they are really usable & stable.

Stick with Foscam… you know the quality of the support (they actually help users & fix problems) and a huge user community.

Plus, you pay only the real retail cost… not retail + re-badge profit margin

What I’d really like to see is more cameras actually supported with the motion detection feature.

Only one Foscam model? :frowning:

I’d love it if this was implemented for their other cameras. For example their outdoor rated ones… so that one could have scenes to trigger lights to turn on when motion is detected outdoors during certain hours and/or when an alarm system is armed or similar conditions.

Is this merely a matter of the cameras not officially being supported, but it might still work?
