Alright, I’ve tried like crazy over the last week to get my setup to work. I have a vera3 and Foscam FI9821w V2. I have torn through this thread several times and have not been able to get it right. I can use my snapshot url in browser and get an image, but I get no stream with the stream url. In Vera, there is only a wrench. Haven’t gotten it to show any image at any point. Pan/Tilt do not work, I get “Device Not Ready.” I downloaded the latest I_Foscam98HD.xml file and uploaded that. I also get no “state” value in my advanced settings that I see referenced alot. I have the VistaCam SD, PT & HD Plugin 1.31 and VistaCam Classic Motion Sensor Plugin 1.22. Foscam firmware is the most updated, I believe, Sys: 1.4.1.8, App: 1.11.1.18, Plug-In 2.0.1.6.
My wiring setup is a little different than some I’m sure, but in interest in getting the right answers, I’m gonna try and provide all of the info. My modem is hooked to the Vera3, then my secondary wireless router is plugged into the vera and the Foscam is plugged into my secondary router. I have the ports fowarded on my secondary router for the camera, but I have not used SSH to get into the vera to forward the ports on it so I’m assuming that might be why I can’t access the camera feed from outside my network, but not sure if that’s why I cant get the feed in Vera from my LAN. The camera works fine on the Foscam interface. Any help is much appreciated, here are my settings. Thanks so much.

Sorry it’s so long winded, just trying to be complete. Thanks for any help someone can offer, this is far more frustrating then I thought and I tried like crazy to get it sorted on my own without bothering anyone else. Ask if there is any other information needed.

Update: I logged in using Firefox, instead of Chrome. Still no picture in Vera, but the stream and snapshot URL’s both work when entered on Firefox. Thanks.

Now I’ve got the video stream, but no PTZ, says device not ready. The problem with the vid stream was my double router setup and having the vera3 1st in line. It was somehow blocking the feed from the camera to the UI, but that’s resolved now.

the 98 HD cams need 2 ports to be forwarded the main one and the mediaport as well. i.e. 88 and 880 for example. there is also a 443 https port that could conflict when cam has upnp on and ur using something else like a webserver or router with https. better to set this to another port.
setting the second router to repeater-mode instead of normal mode and give it a static ip would also work better.

I’ve actually got all 3 of those ports in my router forwarded. I’m not positive on how to set the vera up as a repeater, if you could elaborate on that. Any tips on how to get the PTZ functions to work? Are my settings incorrect? Thanks.

Just got a Foscam FI9821W - went over the thread twice in the last 3 hours. Tried everything. No umage, just a filmstrip. Updated the foscamHD XML file, updated the VistaCam plugin and rebooted Vera. No luck.
I tried combined the IP address and URL values from the settings into http://ipaddress:80/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture&usr=admin&pwd=***** and it brings up a picture just fine in Firefox and Opera. No picture in Vera though.
I’ve also tried http://veraipAddress:3480/data_request?id=request_image&lights=1&cam=deviceid (where deviceID is that of the camera) nothing displayed there.
Same goes for my Wanscam JW0011. URL works fine in the browser but Vera just shows a film strip.
As much as I like Vera, I’m getting frustrated by the lack of support for common IP camera models such as the FI9821W. People seem to have been able to get them working, but it seems not to work for everyone.
No issues setting either up in Blue Iris. Couple of clicks and hey presto, image.
I’m having a tough time finding the impl_file “I_foscam98HD.xml”. If someone would please post a link I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks!
Not to sound rude, but you must not have searched hard enough. The file is in this thread about 10 pages back:

Thanks Garret, it was my mistake. I wasn’t logged into the forum earlier so that attachment was not displayed.

Agreed. Love Vera. Hate the process. I’m using my FI9821W as a doorstop until someone comes up with a better install process.
The FI9821w v2 I have in the baby’s room works fine for me, it took a bit of trawling through the forum posts but works for me with the below settings
Device_file: D_DigitalSecurityCamera2.xml
Impl_file: I_Foscam98HD.xml
URL: /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=admin
DirectStreamingUrl: /cgi-bin/CGIStream.cgi?cmd=GetMJStream&usr=admin&pwd=
Vera had better support for this camera than the various iPad baby monitors that only got support in the last few weeks.
My FI9821W works great with IP-Cam and Blue Iris software, but I can’t get Vera to even acknowledge that it exists. It does not show up when I try to add it manually or automatically.
Early models of Foscams installed with very little trouble.
I have 4 FI8910W’s that Vera added in a snap. It’s had problems with my FI8905W I added later but I was able to tweak it to work.
No such luck with the FI9821W. When I manually add it, it is in the list of IP’s and selectable. But adding either as a Foscam or a Vistacam even with all the teaks discussed, I can not get it to show an image.
I’m wondering if it maybe is firmware version on the Foscam or because I have the other Foscam models also. Once I get my network/firweall redone, chances are I’ll spring the $9.99 for the Blue Iris app and use that for the camera’s. There are plug-ins for BI that allow remote access via eg URL"s so maybe I can interface it with Vera.
Mine is running on system firmware 1.4.1.8 application firmware 1.11.1.18
I don’t think I added it as a camera, I think I just went into apps > develop apps > create device and manually created the camera.
I have the camera working but I cant get the motion detection working… I dont have the state variable in my settings… What am I doing wrong… I have the 9821w v2… .Thank you…

The last plugin version (2.1) had a major flaw: it worked correctly only for one camera. I published a new version today (2.2) that fixes that flaw and some other bugs. However, for the fix to work you have to tell the plugin to reconfigure the cameras: find the ConfiguredMD variable in the camera’s Advanced tab, set it to 1 and Save.
This should work for all the Foscam cameras that can send notifications when motion is detected. Have you tried it and it didn’t work?[/quote]
I know this quote is old but I am having the same issue with the motion sensors (a WeMo motion sensor) not triggering the camera to take a phot. I looked for ConfiguredMD but I do not see it under Advanced. I do see an AutoConfigure set to -1 is that similar?

Hi
Seem to be having problems with the Foscam motion sensor staying RED and not going back to green. This was working in the past but my Foscam fI8905W has not been working recently due to a bad power supply, I plugged in a new power supply today and the camera is working again but have this issue now with the motion sensor in Vera.
I can’t see a ConfiguredMD variable setting any more in the cameras advanced tab, is this now just called Configured ? (See screen shot)
If I set the variable “Tripped” on the motion sensor device, from 1 to 0 and save it then goes Green OK, however upon new motion detection it then stays Red and doesn’t seem to go back to Green again.
Also has that issue with OnTime being set to less than 1200 been fixed? Its set to 1200 currently and that’s what I had it set at historically.
If I look up the http://CAMIPADDRESS/get_params.cgi on the camera I can see the below is set correctly:
var alarm_http=1;
var alarm_http_url=‘http://VERAIPADDRESS/port_3480/data_request?id=lr_foscam_tripped&sensor_id=19’;
Thanks
EDIT: If I change the “Configured” variable from 0 to 1 and then save the motion icon then goes from Red to Green. I moved the camera and motion is detected and now the icon has gone Red again. Will see if it goes Green? After 20 mins? Which is the OnTime = 1200 ?
Thanks
EDIT:2 Well 20 mins has past and its now gone Green again, so looks like I just fixed it. Looking in the advanced tab on the camera device and at the Configured variable its still set as 1
Would be interested to know if anyone is using an OnTime less than 1200 ?
Thanks

Have you tried to manually add the camera with these instructions? http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,10599.msg76555.html#msg76555
and use the following settings for the HD Foscam

Holy Crap! I have an image on my FI9821W!!! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
For URL I used /cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=admin&pwd=password and left the user and password fields nblank. For some reason, with those entered there and not in the URL field I got a ‘camera URL is invalid’ error.
