Hi i found in one other topic the Foscam FI9821W is supported by vera, that’s mean i can control everythig of the camera, listed to the audio and recorde?
I have a FI9821W connected to Vera Lite. It works pretty good from the web interface. It does not work very well form the Vera App interface. I cannot get streaming via the web interface.
@Fitz, Are you able to use the motion detector of the 9821 cam or for that matter any other feature as a trigger?
I am having issues using the fo scam for anything other than view images in emulation mode. I can’t see the foscam when creating a scene.
I have several FI9821P’s in my home and have had them connected both to Vera and via Blue Iris. If you want the ability to use them as motion sensors you need to use Blue iris and the Blue iris plugin. I haven’t set mine up this way but many people have.
I would not use the cameras in VERA as there is not point.
You also don;t need the Blueiris Plugin witch will also run all camera images threw vera again.
All you need is the Virtual Motion Plugin (and Blueiris ofcourse)
Info can be found in the Virtual Motion Plugin thread here.

@Integlike,
I have already returned one Foscam after seeing how I was not able to utilize its full potential. I am now trying to decide what to do with an outdoor camera setup that I would like to have. Would you recommend a setup separate from Vera for the cameras? Which one and what combinations. I need a few 4-5 cameras and would like to record on motion and receive alerts on motion based on schedule.
I will look at the Virtual Motion Plugin. It looks like I need to get Blue Iris now.

I use Blueiris myself and it’s great, only problem is it requires a pretty good computer to run it and it needs to be on 24/7. That’s fine for me but some don’t like that. No one says it needs to be a tall full tower computer as I have built mini itx computers for this before, but they are not cheap. So if you don’t have a good enough computer to run Blueiris already the cost can seem high due to the hardware u need.
Blueiris Works better with Intel as it has some new software features that lower cpu usage on the newer intels. There is also direct to disc writing that can help save cpu% but which 4 or 5 high quality cameras you need a high i5 or i7 processor to keep cpu usage down low. Trying to use some old celeron computer wont cut it and you’ll see cpu usages threw the roof.
Blueiris has it’s own nice apps to run back previous days or weeks recordings (depending on your HardDrive size) and it intergrates will with VERA. I change my recording profiles from day to night and home or away from vera. You can send http to manually trigger a camera, you can have vera motion send vera requests, push a snapshot to you blueiris app on the phone or what ever. It’s really versatile.
Blueiris Can be bought on ebay for 40 or 45.00. Blueiris Is always bought by a serial number only and downloaded online. It has a 30 day trial period and it has a cpu% gauge in the bottom right hand side of the window. So you can download and test on a computer you already own and see where you stand asap.
