Foscam FI9816P "Unable to get image from your camera" error

Hello,
I have had my Vera 3 for a couple years and been very successful with adding other cameras - Two (2) D-Link DCS-932L cameras and a Foscam FI8910W. Recently the Foscam stopped working (red steady power light only with no startup motion or wireless activity), so I replaced it with an FI9816P model. I was able to successfully add it to my network through the Foscam setup and can see it in a browser window at:
http://:/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=&pwd=

However, when I try to add it to Vera 3, I get the “Unable to get image from your camera” error message. I’ve tried this method initially:

  1. Click Devices > Add Devices.
  2. Click Add next to “I want to add an IP Camera”.
  3. Since it doesn’t show up, in the list, I click I want to add “Manually add”.
  4. After locating the Foscam’s IP address, click the corresponding Select.
  5. For type of camera, I select “Foscam Camera”. The URL populates with “http:////snapshot.cgi
  6. Enter Username (for Foscam)
  7. Enter Password (for Foscam)
  8. Click Next.
The next page displays the “Unable to get image from your camera” error message.

I have tried the suggestions that have worked for others (i.e. eliminating one of the “/” in the snapshot URL, creating a device, using the path “http://:/cgi-bin/CGIProxy.fcgi?cmd=snapPicture2&usr=&pwd=” in the snapshot URL, using a Generic IP Camera under type of camera, etc.), but had no luck.

I’m running the latest firmware for both. Vera 3 UI5 is at 1.5.622 and the Foscam FI9816P is at System Firmware Version 1.9.2.12 / Application Firmware Version 2.51.1.38. Under Apps, I have installed the Foscam IP Camera 2.6.

In the event this is a camera-specific issue, I searched for “FI8910W”, but found nothing in the forums and really nothing of value via Google. I’m willing to retry some of these other suggestions in the case I have done something incorrectly. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

This camera probably has no out of the box workings with Vera whereas the older models probably did.

I recommend using this option: http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=25171.0

You can see I posted in there with some updates. I use this to add my 2 Android cell phones as live streaming cameras.

See what you can do using these instructions, perhaps it is slightly different than how you created the device…I can’t tell from your post if it is the same or not.
