I purchased a Foscam FI8905W on 2/11/12, and really like the camera, but I’m having a couple of problems. One of the problems really makes me regret purchasing this particular model (I believe its a older model).

No matter what settings I choose, the camera is only useful day OR night (not both). One group of settings let me see fine at night, but as soon as the sun comes up (and it’s not glaring directly into camera), the camera view totally washes out. The other group of settings allows me to view the camera fine during the day, but it’s too dark at night. If I’d known this before purchasing the camera, I would have chosen something else. I’ve read that the newer model has what is called a “IR Cut”…and I assume this fixes the issue I am having. Any advice/info would be appreciated.

My alarm notifications in the camera all of a sudden stopped working. I tried resetting the camera, and the VERA3 with no luck. I have emails going to 3 different email addresses (one of which is my AT&T mobile text messaging number). The mail setting return a “Test … Succeed”.
