I’ve got the MIMO Lite (with MIMOLite Plugin) configured and partially working with my Vera Lite UI5 controller as a doorbell… push the doorbell button and a scene is executed in Vera.
The binary sensor shows as tripped by default and then when the button is pushed, it momentarily clears (icon goes green). My scene is triggered on the clearing of this sensor.
This seems to work, but not reliably over the long run. At some point, pressing of the button does not clear the sensor and thus the “doorbell” does not ring. (this may possibly be due to power failures, but not sure)
Ideally, I’d like to have the sensor cleared by default and then tripped only when the button is pushed, but I can’t seem to get it working.
As per this document: [url=http://www.fortrezz.com/index.php/component/jdownloads/finish/4/16?Itemid=0]Smart Home - The Last You'll Ever Need - Ezlo Smart Home
I’ve tried modifying Parameter 8 to 2 (from 3) but this did not work.
I contacted Fortrezz but they were useless and told me to open a ticket with Vera which I’ve also done but haven’t heard back from them yet.
What do I need to reverse / inverse / invert the tripping of the sensor?
The long term “unreliability” of the binary input sensor of the Mimolite is an issue that has turned up through various different discussions on this forum, in a variety of different applications for this device. The problem is always similar to what you have noted - at some random time, the device seems to stop responding to changes on its input. Various different theories have been proposed (like your thought that it might be related to a transient power failure) but the only thing that is certain is that there is no obvious solution to the problem. My take on this is that the Mimolite has some sort of problem with its design and rather than trying to work around it a more reliable long term solution (for your application) would be to use one of the Z-Wave wireless door/window sensors that accepts an external input - these devices seem to be far more reliable.
Oh great ???
I was just looking at the thread that JS007 sent and thought I would give it a shot. But you’re saying that it’s not my configuration, it’s the hardware flaking out on me?
Awesome.
I’ll give it a shot nonetheless and let you know how it goes.
I tried the config as suggested by JS007 but I couldn’t get it to work so I went back to the always-tripped-unless-button-is-pushed method. I’d love to say that it’s been roses ever since but no go. My client emailed me a month later asking me how to reset it (the Mimolite was buried up in the cupboard ceiling so I had to instruct him on how to access it via an access port and unplug-replug it) indicating that it was no longer responding.
If anyone has any tricks on how to get it working reliably… do tell!!
