I have a dead Vera. I can’t get it to load any UI… Does anyone have experience in doing a non-UI upgrade of Vera2 firmware? I tried this process several times described in the foreum without any success. See http://wiki.micasaverde.com/index.php/Firmware_Flash_Vera2
Try the flash firmware again.
When you get to step 3 & 4 If you view the power LED from a 45 degree angle from above you will see it turns red and flashes. Just follow the instructions.
I hve noticed that the power light does flash… But when the ver2_upgrade pgm runs nothing appears in the detected LAN cards windows. I have waited more than an hour. ANy ideas? I appreciate your help.
I’m new here, so please forgive me if you’ve already done this, but it is worth confirming…
You’ve taken the LAN connection out of DHCP mode and manually configured it? (including the default gateway address? 192.168.1.1, and subnet?
Your Laptop is directly connected to Vera2, you’ve tried a different cable?
You’ve disabled the Wi-Fi connection?
You’ve disabled/turn off any antivirus software, Internet protection software?
You are using windows XP? Or you are running in Administrator mode? (Vista, Win7)
I would think if this is going to work it would take less than say 15 minutes, to find the Vera2,

Your Laptop is directly connected to Vera2, you’ve tried a different cable? I used two different cables… no luck
You’ve disabled the Wi-Fi connection? Probably didn’t… I can try that…
You’ve disabled/turn off any antivirus software, Internet protection software? yes
You are using windows XP? Or you are running in Administrator mode? (Vista, Win7) Vista… as Admin

As stated in the instructions, the FW Flash utility was only tested with Win XP. I could not get it to work with Vista.
You’re welcome.
Let us know how it goes. FYI, when it works, the device number (Vera) will show up within the flash utility within a few seconds, so you should not need to wait an extended period of time waiting for it.
Still no luck… but I’m making progress. I found an old XP machine and I can now get the utility to run and display adapter cards.
You say the device number show up in the utility. What does the device number look like? I was expecting either Vera or the Vera AP number to appear…
Dont forget, this utility takes Vera backwards, strips away the Mios part and reverts it into being just a router, then you upload Mios. So no, it does not display Vera or the AP# just a bunch of numbers, looks more like a Mac address. It’s probably the routers serial number or something.
