Fibaro FGS-223 or Philio PAN04-1B...?

Hi.

I need to buy a new relay and i see of a lot of talking about compatibility problem with some relay models can anyone know
what relay is better the Fibaro FGS-223 or Philio PAN04-1B for my Vera plus controller…?

I have the FGS-223 - from my experience:

  • it works OK as a double switch with a VeraPlus
  • power monitoring only works on the first channel
  • the case isn’t very robust and it’s a bit fat when you’re trying to fit it in a wall box (something flatter, even if bigger in other dimensions, would be easier to fit to the back or side of the switch)
  • the contacts are too small for comfort

I’d also be interested in a direct comparison with the PAN04, possibly next time I would try that one instead.

first thx…

I hope Vera is going to add fgs-223 support in the next firmware that all the option will work… and does anyone have the philio that can write is opinion about it…?

I’m gonna bump this and paste what the support told med via mail

I?m sorry but I can not suggest a device that is not on our compatibility list, I have done more research and the ETA for the Fibaro FGS223 will be added in the firmware 7.22, currently we have the Beta version that is 7.21, so I will kindly ask in the meantime to check the topic on the on our Forum regarding this device:

And to try to apply the fix, you can also re-enable the Access on the unit so we can gladly assist you.

Hi,

I bumped into this topic so I thought I would like to share my experience.

I have both PAN04-1B and FGS-223 and I also have FGS-222 installed at my home.

In my experience PAN04-1B works the best in regards to support and setup. It was recognized right away and I had no problem setting all the parameters to do exactly what I want.
With Fibaro modules (FGS-223 in particular) I had a lot of problems to get it working as it should with Vera. In the end I ended up with Vera support guys remotely connecting in order to set it up properly.
Even like this Fibaro has some “glitches” every now and then. I.e. every now and then it seems to miss my switch press so I need to click the switch again for the module to react.

With Philio PAN04-1B i had no such problems, it works flawlessly from the first day.
However, PAN04-1B has one other issue that I dislike. It has a bit longer delay for the relays to react to the local input. As I measured it is maybe around 300ms, which is not alot but you still need to get used to the fact that the light just does not react instantaneously when you press the switch.

This being said, I still haven’t find my perfect in-wall double relay… I will try to test some more though… :-\
