Fibaro Dimmer 2 FGD-212 Switch on issue

Hi all,
I have an issue with a new Fibaro dimmer 2 module.
When i attempt to switch on the lights via the wall switch, they will flash on quickly and immediately return to the off state, another attempt a second or so later will have the lights come on and remain on.
The same happens when activating via Z-wave.

Has anyone else experienced the same issue? I have another dimmer 2 in another room operating the same LED downlights with no problems.

Thanks.

It sounds like this issue: http://forum.fibaro.com/index.php?/topic/19382-fibaro-dimmer-2-and-light-goes-off-after-less-than-1-asecond/. Some people have reported that upgrading to the 3.3 version of the module cures it. As far as I can tell, there is no way to upgrade the module over the air, despite Fibaro’s claim that this would be possible.

Thanks David,
That was an interesting read and gives me some idea of parameter adjustments to make to hopefully cure the issue.
If I have no luck I will have them replaced for the 3.3 version.
Cheers.

Do you have any news on this? I have two Dimmer 2 modules connected to a regular bulb on a 2 wire configuration. When I put the load to 85% or above, the lights turn on and quickly turn off. Anybody with the same experience? I contacted Fibaro and got the following reply, cannot believe my eyes… Appearently I cannot put the load to more than 85% in a 2 wire confuration, is there anybody that is facing the same ? ???

Rafał Ciesielski 08 Dec 15 Dear Pietor When you are using 2 wires no If You use 3 wire, You should be able to obtain almost 100% Regards

Pietor 07 Dec 15 Dear Rafal,
Do you mean I cannot put my lamps higher than 85% of load?
Regards,
Pietor

Dear Sir,
You have connected this module in 2-wire connection,
and this 15% of all energy is necessary to power up dimmer 2.
This is due to the dimmers construction.
This problem doesn?t occurs for 3 wire installation.
Kind regards,

Is there anybody on the forum with a Dimmer 2 and a 2-wire configuration? Are you able to set your lamp load to above 85%? See my message above.

I have a 4 dimmer2’s in a 3 wire setup. No issues

Anybody with 2 wire setup?

Nope, all of mine are in 3-wire - and I think they turn off for a different reason.

I believe that fibaro are correct. When wired as 2-wire, you are effectively putting the module in series with the lighting load, so you won’t be able to push the load to 100% (as you need some to keep the module powered).

However, when the module calibrates, it sets parameter 2 to the highest value it can go to. See Wireless Smart Home and Home Automation | FIBARO page 22

You could prove that it is a 2 wire problem by running a temporary neutral to the relay. Obviously only if you know what you are doing with electrics.
If this solves your problem consider running a permanent neutral (make sure you use the neutral from the same circuit as the live).

I’m getting the following error after setting load to higher than 80%:

11/29/15 20:17:41.708 ZWaveNode::HandlePollUpdate_Alarm node 7 device 21 v1type: 0 v1level: 0 source: 0 status: 255 type: 8 event: 5 parms: 0 code: (null) <0x7745c520>

Somebody knows what this error means?
Anybody else with 2-wiring setup facing these issues?

Yes i am still facing the exact same error:

05/04/16 11:40:23.627	ZWaveNode::HandlePollUpdate_Alarm node 29 device 76 v1type: 0 v1level: 0 source: 0 status: 255 type: 8 event: 5 parms: 0 code: (null) <0x2b25c680>

I am using a two-wire setup and changed the load (regular bulb to LED) after first adding the dimmer to my Vera. Had the issue before and excluding and including the device with the correct load solved the issue.

However, the dimmer should detect a new load and should auto-calibrate. When forcing the auto-calibrate mode at parameter 13, it still switches off at 100% load.

For now, excluding and including the device should solve the issue.
