Feit Electric LED Bulbs at Costco

I am a bit late to the LED bulb thing. I tried CFLs and hated them and noted similar feelings from people about LEDs, not to mention the cost. Dimming capability was a must also.

So I did grab a Feit 60w replacement LED at Costco today for $3.99 ($8.99 - instant $5 rebate) and it doesn’t seem too bad. My wife and I like the color (they say 3000K) and it seems to dim just fine with the GE lamp module I plugged it into. It also quotes the average 60w incandescent as 800 lumens and says theirs are 850, so theoretically actually brighter.

Anybody with similar experiences? At $3.99 that is now below my threshold of pain. Now, what do I do with a closet full of 60w incandescents?

Yes the whole dimmer LED compatibility thing is still not quite ready for prime time. Getting better but too many “gotchas” still. I recently bought a Philips led bulb that various the color temp when you dim it. It is the most similar to incandescent dimming that I have seen. Still suffers LED dropout on the lower end of the dimming small but all LEDs do that.

These Leviton’s will drive an LED bulb with no dropout. Just pricey. I’m lucky I got a set of 10 for $120 last year. I’m shocked at today’s price.

Did you get a set of 10 new ones at Amazon, or somewhere else? I think the retail price for a new one has always been in the $150-$200 range. Shocking; yes.

We have a whole bunch of the Costco/Feit LEDs running on VRE’s. So far, so good, 3 years+.

Someone needs to try one of these new and more reasonably priced Leviton DZMX1-1LZ Decora Z-Wave Scene Capable Universal Dimmer. I’ve seen posts that it lacks Instant Status, but being a scene controller, I would have expected Instant Status support.

It doesn’t appear to be a scene controller, but a regular dimmer? A cousin of the Vizia RF+ line? [Vizia RF (VR)MX1 vs. Decora Z-Wave (DZ)MX1]

I too would have expected instant status though. In fact, I expect that in any Z-Wave device… ::slight_smile:

Link to Decora Z-Wave topic with reports and statement from Leviton that instant status is not supported.
