Failsafe tunnels

What is the “Failsafe tunnels” check-box for in the 1.0.996 Control>Advanced>Net & wi-fi section?

Hi,

It’s not just in 996, it’s there from 616 I think. It’s used in cases when the connection to findvera.com service is slow and faulty (satellite connections or 56k modem dial-ups).

A little bump on this topic, seeing a few questions about this feature.

Adding to Ovidiu’s post:

Failsafe tunnels provide a more robust connection from your Vera Controller to Vera’s Remote Servers.

This option is used in different cases:

  1. Your Internet Service Provider is blocking the remote port which Vera Controller uses to connect to Vera’s Remote Servers.
  2. As Ovidiu stated before, you may have a slow or faulty connection (56K Dial-up or Satellite with high latency).
  3. If you are using 3G/4G Cellular Connections that have high latency as well.
