I have acquired one of the generic camera systems and I was wondering is there a way to integrate into Vera? It would be nice just to be able to view these cameras.
Thank you!

A manufacture and model number would help. If the unit has an api interface or is controllable via http and images can be retrieved via an http request, it may be possible.
My Apologies it is a ELEC-CVK-1008DB.
A lot of camera systems use an IE ActiveX component and refuse to allow you to get to the cameras via an IP. I have the NightOwl Poseidon-85 and I have tried for a long time to get these addresses to input them into Vera.
The firmware of your unit has to have some API interface as mentioned or cameras accessible by a URL. If you can’t find this then it’s quite limited or most likely “no”. I was dissapointed and would have researched this but my cameras pre-date my Vera so I didn’t know at the time.
I use a program on my tablet called IP Cam Viewer (Android and Apple versions) (IP Cam Viewer – Android « Hit-Mob.com) that will allow you to use the program as a server (as long as you are in record mode or gallery mode) for a ton of cameras and it will also allow you to cast to a Chrome cast device (I think you can call a specific URL). I have not really messed around with this feature yet but if you have an old android device kicking around it might allow you to accomplish your task. I just tested with one of the cameras and was able to get it working. So if you can see the camera in IP Cam Viewer you ‘should’ be able to view in Vera.
Correct rayp. However, if you have a DVR security system that does not “break out” each camera into a URL it doesn’t work. I have IP Cam Viewer and it works with my DVR but the Chromecast option never works. There are 8 cameras on my system and unfortunately it’s an ActiveX interface to it. I’m not sure how IP Cam Viewer got the code but neither myself or other forums/searches were ever able to get a URL for each individual camera.
Yeah, not sure what to tell you there. I have a Gadspot DVR that defiantly does not break out the Analog cameras into individual URL streams (I tried all the iSpy Links and there is defiantly nothing in the DVR menus that would allow control of it -not like the Axis and IQEye’s that I use at work) but IP Cam Viewer does give you the camera as individual stream (192.168.2.192:7004/v1/stream/last_frame.mjpg?name=Garage). The Chromecast feature works on my Samsung tablet casting to the the three Chrome Casts that I have in the house.
Can’t say that it’s blazing speed or anything (it’s likely just refreshing the jpg), but the images stream does cast and that’s all I really played around with on it so far…
Lucky you my friend! Lol
