DVR Installation Utility

This is a utility for easier installation of cameras from a DVR.

Installation

On UI5 install it from the marketplace.
On UI4: see here.

How to use

In the Advanced tab of the plugin:

[ol][li]set the ip of the DVR;[/li]
[li]set the Ports of the cameras as a comma separated list;[/li]
[li]set the relative URL to get a Jpeg snaphot from a camera;[/li]
[li]set the Username and Password required to connect to the cameras.[/li][/ol]

Example: For a DVR with 3 cameras on ports 8081, 8082 and respectively 8083, the IP address 192.168.8.10, and the URL for a snapshot /img/snapshot.cgi, the parameters will be:

[ul][li]ip is 192.168.8.10[/li]
[li]Ports is 8081,8082,8083[/li]
[li]URL is /img/snapshot.cgi[/li][/ul]

The plugin will create a camera for each port in the list with the appropriate IP:Port pair and will use the parameters you set for this device.

Thank you very much for this topic, mcv!
I’ve done everything according to the book and the plug-in is now installed in my Vera2 UI4.

But now I’m struggling with another problem: find the url for the jpg files. :frowning:

Are you able to take snapshots from the DVR’s UI?

Yes, I can take snapshots. The format they are saved is *.bmp (if I remember correctly).

BMP? These take a lot of space. Maybe there is some configuration parameter that allows you to select another type of file, like JPG or PNG?

Anyway, it should work with BMPs too. You can use Firefox with the Firebug addon to get the URL.

  1. Open the Net tab of the Firebug addon.
  2. Press the button to take a snapshot.
  3. Watch the Net tab of the Firebug addon while pressing the button.

Post here all the URLs you find using Firebug. If the URLs contain the username and the password, edit them out.

Thank you mcv for your great effort!! You’ve been very helpful!

Unfortunately it seems that every step we give we find a problem…
So I’ve checked with the dvr and the snaps are indeed saved as *.BMP.
Started FF with firebug to find out that the dvr works with activex, meaning it only works with IE?
Tried to get the activex working with FF and installed a plug-in called IEtab (or something similar). It works but it seems to work like a IE windows inside FF. ??? I think firebug can’t capture the urls like this… but I might be wrong!

Is there no documentation for the dvr? You might have a dvr that is not compatible to work with Vera.

Thanks Garrett.

The dvr is a Kare 4ch (china made). It’s quite popular among the Chinese brands.

I can not find a manual for the dvr. You will need to try and find the image url for the cameras. Is there nothing in the manual?

What is the plug in name for the DVR? I am using UI4.

Download the ZIP file from my first post and follow the installation instructions.

[quote=“garrettwp, post:9, topic:171507”]I can not find a manual for the dvr. You will need to try and find the image url for the cameras. Is there nothing in the manual?

The manufacture of the dvr is this: http://www.isafecity.net/home.aspx

I’ve checked the manual and there’s nothing about image url… :-\

I keep digging around this… ;D apparently the activex addon is called Newie Control, made by Sino Video?

Since I don’t wont to give up so easy I’ve been trying to find the url… ;D

And here what I’ve been getting: using the ip address of my DVR + port number + /cgi/jpg/image.cgi I get a white page (FF or IE) simply showing 3 letters - GEÿ

Anyone knows what’s the meaning of this? ??? Please ignore what it might sound… ::slight_smile:

Hi mcvflorin!
This plugin works with H.264 compression DVRs?

Thanks!

Hi privus,

This plugin only makes installation of multiple cameras (that belong to a DVR) easier, it doesn’t offer support for DVRs. That being said, if you know the URL for a camera snapshot, then it’s possible the cameras will work. You could try installing a camera using these instructions and see if it works.

Dear,
I live in a condominium apartments and access the DVR laser areas of web-building. I can visualize the images of the DVR in your plugin?
