Duwi z-wave.me dimmer (with the improved firmware)

I have a question about the Duwi z-wave.me dimmer (with the improved firmware) in combination with my vera 2.

According to the specifications of the Duwi, it can be used to control a scene in a gateway independent of the local load. I succeeded in removing the link between the buttons and the local load. (with option 12). So far however I don’t seem to be able to use the buttons for anything else. The manual suggests that I should make a association with group 1 (for single press) and group 2 (for double press). The Vera only offers to associate it with _scene controller and zwave. (and all my other z-wave devices) Both seem to have no effect. The shop were I bought it suggested that I should create a virtual device, associate it with that and make the scene run based on the state on that device changing. (this is apparently how it works in homeseer). The only virtual device I could create in the Vera is the one used for home/not home use. And I can not associate anything with it, probably because it is not a real z-wave device.

My conclusion so far is that using the buttons on the Duwi dimmer is not (yet) possible with the Vera. Did anyone else try this or does anyone have an idea how to get this to work?

I haven’t tried this, but I have not been able to make the Duwi remote scene controllers control anything in Vera. I have two of the remote controllers (not the latest .me versions) and I can only use them to control loads. Vera can also control the loads - the Duwi just can’t control the Vera.

I’ve played around with this a little as well, but couldn’t make it work. Vera doesn’t see the Duwi switch as a scene controller so it doesn’t let you trigger a scene based on the switch activating a scene. And I have found no way to associate the switch to a virtual device either.

If you need only single clicks (control one group of devices by up/down clicks/holds), just associate Z-Wave.Me Flush-Mountable Dimmer with Vera.

As you have noticed earlier, if you associate double clicks with Vera too, you can not separate them from single click.
Z-Wave.Me devices do not send SceneActivation commands as supposed by Vera. But SceneActivation is not the only way.

To distinguish single and double clicks you need to use MultiChannel Associations instead of simple Associations:
Place Vera:instance 1 in MultiChannel Association group 1 (single click) and
Vera:instance 2 in MultiChannel Association group 2 (double click).

Hence, single and double clicks would result in command coming to Vera’s instances 1 and 2 respectively.

This is a more powerful way comparing to SceneActivation commands, since here you have separate commands for click up/down and hold (dim) up/down, while with Scenes you can usually handle only click up/down.

Not sure Vera has an interface to configure MultiChannel Associations Command Class. Does Vera support it? Does Vera support MultiChannel Command Class?

I still would like an update from the MCV team on the Multichannel Association support. I get the impression it is not currently supported. Can we expect this to be implemented soon?
It would really be great to have this feature, since the new Z-wave.ME firmware makes it an awesome product - local dimmer control and scene control in one device (as far as I understand).

Hello

I am looking to purchase a couple of new Duwi wall dimmer switches. I think the insert module I require is 06433 2 wire. Have all the issues with these newer Duwi.me or is it zwave.me ? modules been resolved now with VeraLite / Vera 3 ?

Thanks

Z-Wave.me Dimmer Insert (ZME_06433)

Serves for the dimming of connected lights either via radio signals or directly over clipped-on radio-rockers. The Z-wave.me Dimmer Insert is designed for use within a 2-wire system, which means that no neutral wire (blue) is needed for operations. Duwi is intended to control lamps, both with resistive or inductive load. The device is a conventional leading-edge phase control dimmer with support for inductive loads such as transformers. Additionally conventional resistive loads such as incandescent lamps or 230 V halogen lamps can be dimmed as well.

I have those dimmers now as well and I’m looking for a solution to trigger scenes by double clicking on the switch. The workaround with virtual device isn’t working either, I can’t manage to trigger the virtual device by associating the virtual device with the wall switch.

Bump on this… Anyone got the Duwi z-wave.me dimmer double-click to work with vera?
