The bell circuit is supervised and if not being used, you must bridge the bell connects with a 1000 ohm resistor and you would get any trouble notifications.
Thanks Brientim.
I googled quite a bit but no answer (and I’m at work). The 1832 board came with a pack of resistors. Are these 1k-ohm? If they are higher than 1k-ohms will they work? I think they may be 5.6k-ohms but not sure. If I need 1k specifically I can run to radio shack, part number 271-153 I found on another forum.
IIRC, there is both 1k and 5.6k resistors. The 1k should have brown, black and red bands. The 5.6k are for the End of Line (EOL) resistors. Any 1k resistor should fine.
This was a real nice (, long) and informative thread, even though my system now basically is up and running.
In post #154 @strangely said “You need the DLS software and a cable.”
Is that the only way to configure the alarm panel with a computer (execpt from the keypad that is)?
I thought, maybe wrong, thet the EVL3 had those options too,
When I bought my stuff I didn’t order the cable because of the EVL, maybe that was bad.
And just to make the resistors used more clear, as @Brientim correctly says.
With the panel there is provided the resistors normally needed:
1pce 1k - this is for non-permament usage insted of a bell during installation (should be removed when fully operating).
1pce 2K2 - this is for two wire fire alerts, and 16pce 5K6 resitors for (S)EOL (and/or DEOL), provided for the 8 basic zones. If a zone is unused just insert a resistor for that zone and nearest com in the panel.
Once get the grip on the thinking the alarm is actually easy to setup.
Please help me !
I have powerseries 1864 v6.4 and i bought TRL5164.
All my system is wired including keypad, window sensor, door sensor and motion sensot.
I bought TRL5164 as i want to have 2 way remote control.
Do i need to buy any additional keypads ( wired/unwired) to program and install to work together poweseries1864 with TRL5164 and 2 way remote control???
At this moment i have 2 wired keypads PK5501 working with my powerseries 1864 and i don’t need any additional.
The question is if it is enough my old keypads to update my system???
Thanks.
No you do not. The TRL is all you need!
See above ;D

Hi there,
Thanks for the very detailed info people.
Does anyone have a recommended supplier for the DCS 1832 in Sydney Australia?
See here:
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=10307.0
The link below is for one in Sydney and they have a showroom but more expensive then eBay seller, who I believe is also in Sydney. The panel and wireless devices are different to the USA but the rest is the same.
I have a DSC PC5010 panel and I want to control it with Vera3 via EVL-3. The cat5 connection goes straight to the Vera3, in one of the router port, right? How do I configure it to work on Vera3?
Hello,
Try following the instructions as per the link below:
http://code.mios.com/trac/mios_dscalarmpanel
Depending on your network, you can connect the EVL-3 to your router or directly to one of the 4 LAN ports of the Vera3.

How large is your home and were you able to get adequate coverage for all wireless devices using one TR5164-433 transceiver?
