DSC plugin, UI7, EVL-4 - can't get it to work

I have a dsc 1864 with and EVL-4. my vera is on the latest UI.

I have installed and programmed alarm. It works as expected. I have installed and given the EVL-4 an IP. I can log in to the Eyes on website and turn the system on and off. I have installed the dsc plugin to vera (added ip for EVL-4 and set remote disarm to disarm) and it sees my config and shows my contacts on devices list. Partiton 1 shows up but does nothing when you try and arm/disarm the system. HELP Please!

Have you set: EnableRemoteArm to “disarm”

A very recent thread walks through this.

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,36222.0.html

I do have the disarm set on the variables tab. Thank you for the link. I ran several searches and did not come up with it.

I followed these instructions from the link.

  1. Got to http://www.eyezon.com/ and create an account
  2. Choose Add new device from the portal and register your EVL4
  3. Take a pic of your EVL4 so you have the MAC address
  4. Install your EVL4 into your alarm panel
  • disconnect power plug and then the battery
  • wire up the EVL4
  • reconnect battery and then power
  1. Find the EVL4’s IP from your router and go to its web portal (default login is user/user)
  2. Set a static IP and a new password (apparently this password is stored as clear-text so don’t use your bank password here)
  3. Go to your Vera’s web portal and install the DSC plug-in (under Apps → Install apps). The plug-in will create a new device on your Vera, I named mine Alarm Interface.
Note: the Vera app store at apps.mios.com is apparently for older Vera’s. Stay away from there, it’s useless.
  4. Open the Alarm Interface device → Advanced → Params and fill out these fields:
ip: static IP of your EVL4 (some directions say to include a port but I didn’t)
    mac: from your EVL4
  5. Switch to the New Service tab and enter these fields:
    New service: urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:DSCAlarmPanel1
    New variable: InterfacePassword
    New value: your password
  6. Reboot your Vera (under Settings → Net & Wifi, just because)
  7. You should see some new door and motion devices now. Go back to Alarm Interface device → Advanced → Variables and there will be a bunch of new variables.
  8. Update DoorZones and MotionZones with your zone setup. DoorZones should include doors and windows.
  9. Reboot again. The door and motion devices should match your config now.
  10. Manually label all your new devices - there is no way to import the names from your alarm system.

I can log into my eyez-on account and arm and disarm the alarm fine but for some reason my door sensors don’t change status, I can’t set the clock, and can’t arm disarm the system… ???

Does anyone have any advice, because I’m at a loss.

Under Advance>Params, in the ip column, I have ip:4025.
Under Advance>Variables, in the “EnableRemoteArm”, I have “disarm”.

Thanks, Mudd.

I already had the disarm variable set. I tried changing the IP variable but it made no difference. I just can’t figure what the deal is.

??? ??? Still looking for advise as to why this won’t work? I have set it up at least 10 times from scratch. just won’t work.

  1. Can you please confirm you have recorded the MAC from the EVL4
Available from the local EVL web portal > Network
    Format 00:00:00:00:00:00

  2. Is the EVL4 IP static, either reserved on your router or set to static on EVL4

  3. Verify Envisalink TPI status is Online. Available from the local EVL web portal > Network

  1. I have the mac from the evl-4 input in 00:00:00:00:00 format.

  2. It is on a static IP outside my DHCP pool it is a 10.10.1.X network.

  3. I can arm and disarm my alarm panel from the eyezon website. (status: Server: online TPI: offline )

**I can also pull the webpage from the evl-4 by IP address.

Re 3. In the Network page, at the bottom it has TPI Connection Status.

Is the Status online and displaying the IP address of your Vera?

  1. Have you changed the EVL default password?

I have just reinstalled and tested locally and the DSC app is functional, so we should hopefully be able to resolve it.

  1. Try to arm using the Vera App from a mobile phone. Does that work?
  1. NO. The network page of the EVL-4 shows OFFLINE no client.

  2. I changed the default password.

  3. partition 1 Shows up on the Vera App but has no buttons to arm or disarm.

There is the root cause, Vera is not connected to your EVL as the password has been changed.

Two options:

  1. Reset to default password “user”

  2. Add variable to DSC to manage password

See this thread for logic

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=12473.0

To manage user specific password in Vera:

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,5154.msg77911.html#msg77911

  1. uninstalled DSC plugin

2.Reset Enivialink password to user

  1. rebooted both devices

  2. installed DSC Plugin

  3. opened plugin went to #99 DSC Alarm Panel

  4. settings
    automatically configure: yes

  5. Params Tab
    IP:10.10.1.XX:4025
    MAC: 00:XX:XX:XX:XX:11

  6. REBOOT

  7. Varibles Tab
    InterfaceType: 2DS (auto populated)
    EnableRemoteAlarm: disarm

  8. reboot

Still Never changes Enable TPI Status from offline!!

The last quote is the most important…

assumptions

  1. the App is working as designed
  2. The EVL is working
  3. Your on the same subnet
  4. Network Topography unknown,
  5. You can resolve this!!!

Can you please try this:

  1. Remove IP address from the DSC App.
  2. Restart luup. In another Browser tab VeraIP:3480/data_request?id=reload
  3. In the EVL 4 Network Tab, confirm TPI status
  4. Insert IP address from the DSC App (no port required as the app manages the default port 4025)
  5. Restart luup. In another Browser tab VeraIP:3480/data_request?id=reload
  6. In the EVL 4 Network Tab, confirm TPI status

You may need to review your logs to determine what is occurring. This appears to be a communication issue and that make it hard to pin point.

  1. I don’t know if it is or not…

  2. My assumption is that it is. It works from the eyezon website and I can get the web page to the device by the IP internally.

  3. Both devices are on the same switch, on the same subnet, on consecutive ip addresses.

  4. The network Topography is spoke and wheel. All Cisco switches. Cisco small business router. all gigabit devices. router is plugged into 24 port switch both devices are plugged into the switch. (networking is my trade.)

5 I HOPE your right!

I tried the last instructions, No change in TPI status. I do not know how to get to the logs of the Vera device.

You hit a sensitive point, and I had a history with… Cisco and the EVL. I had numerous issues with this a number of year ago.

You may wish to contact Envisalink support it was known issues with the previous version on EVL; however, they have stated, this is improved with EVL4.

I have only reinstalled the app to assist here as I had moved away from Vera and it is functional.

When I get home today I will just plug the devices in a desktop switch and see if they can communicate that way. That will see if there is any problem with the cisco switch. I will also contact Envisalink.

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate all your help!
