DSC IT-100 Integration with Vera Liate

Hi Guys
Quick question.
The DSC IT-100 have a serial port, I am using a serial to Ethernet converter.
The Vera Lite has only one Ethernet Port, and one USB port.
Don’t want to use the USB port as the DSC is far away(25m). Can’t use the Ethernet port as the Netgear use this port.
If I connect the Ethernet cable from the DSC IT-100 to the Router(Netgear) will the Vera Lite unit be able to connect to the DSC?
Thanks

I think you should be able to connect it to the same router if it will work the way you have it converted. I have my doubt’s because of the way the plugin connects to the it-100. Your other options would be to bring a wire to your Vera from a keypad or your alarm panel so you can use the USB to serial connection or use your existing catv to move the vera near the alarm panel or there is another part you can use that is ment to use the network which will probably be your easiest option.

Yes, you can and it should work after you set the type and IP address in the DSC app.

By default, the Plugin assumes Port 5000 if only an IP Address is specified.

eg. [tt]192.168.1.20[/tt] // Defaults to Port 5000 for a WIZnet IP-Serlal

Port 5000 is the default Port for a WIZnet module, so if you’re using another type of IP-Serial converter, you’ll need to configure the Plugin to use whatever port that device is running on.

eg. [tt]192.168.1.20:4000[/tt] // Explicitly use Port 4000 instead

Very nice , its good to know it will work that way. Do either of you know if there is a way connect my dmp panel in a similar manner? My alarm already has an either net port built in. It would be nice if it could report to vera

At last I have received my DSC IT-100!
I have connected the DSC with normal 4 core alarm wire (25m) and placed the DSC next to the Vera Lite

I can see all my sensors. They respond when breached. Very slow though.
Have changed the necessary zones of sensors for motion and door ens.
I have configured the Serial port as follow
1.) Changed used by device to DSC Alarm Panel(control)
2.) Not sure what to do with the IP address and Port. By default the IP address is empty and the port is set to 3481
Question. Must I enter the Ip address of the Vera here? Do I need to change the port address?
I have also changed the setting in the DSC Alarm panel device - advanced - Enable remote arm = disarm. Saved and click reload.
Question. Must I enter the IP address under advanced settings as well?
I have clicked in “set the time” The time is not the same as on Vera or the DSC Control Pad. I have entered the time again on the control pad after the power to the DSC Alarm was restored after the installation of the IT-100.
Few problems I have
1.) The sensors is breached(red) but to not return to green after a while. Is there a possibility to change refresh settings?
2.) Cannot arm / disarm with pin. I have entered the additional 00 after the 4 digit pin as well.
3.) Last night the Partition 1 device(picure 4) indicated “ready”, “ready”. I tried to arm but no luck.
Later on it showed “ready”, “user busy…”
Today it show “not ready” , “not ready”

Any help to get this device working is much appreciated.

When the IT100 is serial-attached, as you’ve configured, you don’t need to enter the IP address (leave it blank).

I have clicked in "set the time" The time is not the same as on Vera or the DSC Control Pad. I have entered the time again on the control pad after the power to the DSC Alarm was restored after the installation of the IT-100.

The Alarm PIN Code must be entered in order to use the Set Time function.

1.) The sensors is breached(red) but to not return to green after a while. Is there a possibility to change refresh settings?

There are no refresh settings. When the DSC Alarm Panel, via the IT100, tells the Plugin that the Zone has “tripped” and/or “un-tripped” then the state in Vera will change.

This action is usually very quick, with the exception of [DSC] Wireless Motion Zones - which have a 6 second delay before they detect motion and trip.

2.) Cannot arm / disarm with pin. I have entered the additional 00 after the 4 digit pin as well.

The DSC Codebase internally pads the PIN that’s entered to the full length, so there’s no need for this to be entered.

Note that the Dashboard-display cannot be used to Disarm (there’s no-where to enter the PIN), this can only be done via the DSC Device’s Dialog-display… where the PIN must be entered, prior to initiating the Disarm option.

3.) Last night the Partition 1 device(picure 4) indicated "ready", "ready". I tried to arm but no luck. Later on it showed "ready", "user busy.." Today it show "not ready" , "not ready"

The states on the Dashboard will follow those on the panel. If a Zone is tripped, for example, then the display will likely change from “Ready” to “Not Ready” (etc). There are various other states as well.

From the pictures, it looks like the basic setup is correct. Note that a (Save) option must be done after all configuration has been completed, and prior to initiating any Arm/Disarm options.
